Takeuchi advice, Tb216 vs Tb219

I’m looking at buying a new mini digger, possibly a Takeuchi TB219, does anyone have experience with these machines that can comment?
Also any comparisons to the TB216?
Another nice looking bit of kit is the Takeuchi TB225 but that is out of budget unfortunately.

016 is a far better machine if your not fussed about it being new new.

TB216 is the cheapo version of the 219, smaller boom, pump etc.

I'd not bother with a new one personally.

The TB216 is a dog of a machine. Look at other brands.

Not sure what Bobcat E19 is like but 5 years 0% is hard to ignore and the E10 and E27 seem nice machines so far.

E19 is a lovely digger.... again avoid the E17 like coronavirus

I'm considering pulling the trigger on a new E19- trouble is, I'm not sure how much I'd get for my Hyundai. She's 4 years old with 2000 hours. Also, I've never driven a machine that grades as well as the Hyundai so would have to hire an E19 and have a good play first!

E19....well id not go for another unless the cost saving was the 5k it was last time against a new machine from another company.

Its an ok machine but will not push anything away from you...probably due to long arm. It is shite at tracking, i thought i could live with what others had said about it but i now cant.
Loading anything close cant be done...long arm again.
Ive had some ram creep issues....sorted on warrenty but still do it.

No experience of 216 but you do hear a lot of poor reviews of them. 219 on the other hand is a hell of a machine. I know rory likes the old 016 but the 219 is the first of the 200 series takeuchis and is basically a long reach 016 with newer look. One thing i can guarantee you 219 will hold money better than any other 1.9 ton class machine and not for no reason.

Agree the 016 is a better machine I’m changing due to various reasons mainly dealer related not so much the product

It's got to be Kubota or Wacker in that weight class. The bobcat is a frustrating machine after a Kubota

Im sorry doobin but i must disagree with your opinion, iv hires a good few bobcats from a local hire company, used the E10, E17, E20, never liked any of them, prefer my old New Holland E18B, hired a few Takeuchi TB216 machines and they are a far better machine, completely different geometry compared to the bobcat.

Also keen to hear any feedback on the TB225, also videos and pictures?

Owen Mays has a 225.... but there is a reason the 216 got chopped for it I'm not a fan of any of the 200 series, rightly or wrongly. The 225 is in my view a Ifwhat machine and for the price you could grab a 016 and a 125 and have two proper machines.

Bobcat E17 is a write off from the start, the E19's are alright but again the E16's where the f****ng bollocks.... I don't know why but the previous generation Bobcats and Takeuchi's seemed better.... less pretty and refined but far better machines!

On the flipside, the JCB 1.9t offering is well worth a look! They dig well and seem to stand the test of time!

Will second that jcb we’re keen to push Demos and what not keenly priced and a nice machine it came a close second for me and I’ve not had a good thing to say about jcb for years !

Thing with jcb they change component suppliers on a regular basis you may not buy the same machine you had on demo.

We had a 219 on hire a few years ago for the best part of two months. At points ran it alongside our 015, aswell as a Hired 014 (Same superstructure as the 016 but shorter arm and fixed narrow tracks)

Whilst it was a nice enough machine, it's no faster than a 016 in my book, nor does it dig any better. The 015 with Extending arm was obviously slower but that's two generations behind and has around half the slew speed of a 016 (It's also up in the hours now),the 014 was on par with the 219 in everything bar reach which again is to be expected.

Beauty of a 016 is they seriously keep there value if looked after.... Last year 016's in the WH Bond auction made between £7000 - £10,000 from memory, for a old generation, ex hire fleet machine with moderate hours that's not bad at all. I have my doubts the 200 series machines will have the longevity of the prior generation, as they are without a doubt built to a price....

Regards the JCB, whilst I hate there quality control (Both out of the factory and quality of some of there younger fitters) recent experience of there products is bloody impressive.

That’s what worries me, I really like my Hyundai. But the tb216 I hired was awful. Gutless compared to Hyundai, and the slew had a mind of its own.
Must say tho, the e10 is easily the best micro I’ve ever used. And I really like the e27 for lift and shift power/grab work but the grading isn’t as good as the Hyundai.

Main thing is fr me, 5 years 0% is hard to ignore.

I always wonder if the hire company's turn the throttle down slightly on the hire machines so you arent getting full power? A machine always works best on full throttle i find.
Iv never operated a Hyundai but would be worth a go at some point.
0% for 5 years is a very good deal and that will boost sales definatley, iv got my heart set on a Takeuchi unfortunately for Bobcat lol.

Time will tell to see how the 200 series takeuchis will last but to be fair they haven't changed that much apart from a bit more electrics. For example a 290 from slew ring down is near on the same as a 175 apart from 1 blade ram not 2. From kingpost forward nothing changed from 175 apart from some pins bigger (hardly a step back). Layout under bonnet much better/ easier to work on so provided electrics don't give bother shouldn't last any different.
Ultimately 200 series above 3 ton have had to be altered to suit emissions and economy improvements
