Stothert & Pitt TXR120 leaking hydraulics

Hi, I’m new to the forum and hoping I can get some pointers. I’ve just picked up a Stothert &pitt TXR120 ride on roller and it has a leak from the front roller. I’m no hydraulic expert (or mechanic for that matter) but I dont think it’s the drive motor as I think that the one in black on the left? The thing I’m looking at is in the middle at the bottom of the roll in the picture. (Helpful tub catching the leak. ) It has a single hydraulic hose going to it. Large shaft through the middle.
Would this be something to do with the vibratory system? I was told that this was disconnected since the roller is used for cricket pitches.
I’m after some guidance to how I can remove it and fix whatever seal is leaking or whether the whole thing could be disconnected.

See pictures. Pooling at the bottom of bearing housing. Also leaking between the split in the housing. Not sure how it comes apart at the moment.

looks to be some sort of rotary coupling? .. appears to be an adapter and hose union in the one pic

So this is possible the brake assembly! The oil is fed in to take the brake off, the plates inside get worn and stick, so harder for the oil to release the brake, so pushing oil out past the seal and in the centre there is an o ring, it’s bolted together from the inside.

that makes a lot of sense looking at it Mick

I think they were a series of bell washers against inner and outer brake discs, sprung on hydraulic off!

Ok that makes sense as there is only one feed. Next job is how to take it apart?? I removed the long bolt holding the assembly to the backing plate but it didn’t want to come off.

The single bolt in the middle, holds the centre shaft to the gear inside the drum, but the unit will need to be unbolted from the rear.

Do I need to remove the front roller to do that? Or can they be done in situ?

No, jack the roller, under the body, wedge something between the drum and roller body, remove the side plate, and then the hoses.

Before I create the biggest paperweight in history. Let me just check the disassembly process. see pic. (If only I had a manual!)

1. unbolt 6 side bolts (just one side or both?)
2. remove drive pump or just remove hoses? probably hoses
3. remove the side plate - is there anything else holding that in?

I'm assuming I'm going to have to remove both sets of side bolts to allow the frame to be jacked up enough for the side plate to slide out underneath?

I'm going to get a start this evening and see how far I get. Any further tips would be much appreciated.

could do with a 'Drema on that job Mick ... looks like the frame has to come up a decent amount or alternatively that front cross bar/scraper mount'll come out???

Agree I think it’s going to be drum out, I don’t think the owner is too keen to do this! See what he says when have pics

be a hell of a lot easier to work on and extract all the bits for sure .... pretty sure it'd roll out with that front cross bar removed ... just need a decent surface to work on

I’m happy to do that if that’s what needed. Doesn’t seem too much extra work.

Afraid it’s looking like a drum out first job, jack the roller frame just behind the drum, undo hoses both sides, and all the 24 mm bolts, you may have to lift thee roller frame some more once the drum is loose, then roll it out.
