Soil stabilisation

Anyone ever had soil stabilisation done in their yard over concrete?

We look after a few soil stabilisation outfits and one of them mentioned doing the yard rather than concrete?

Do you think this would be suitable over concrete? We have tracked machines and wagons running over our yard every day

It depends how much ceement they use and how contaminated your yard is. Potentially it'll be just as concrete yard when done. They can go quite deep with the road crushers. You might be right about tracked machines digging it up though.

I've seen results on farm tracks etc and it's pretty damn good so long as sufficient binder added. Would say if it's considerably cheaper then well worth a try.

Don't complain - suggest what's better
I've seen some tracks where the client wouldn't pay for enough binder and they soon rutted again.
I guess you need to see what warrenty is offered to see how confident you can use track machines without damage.

I worked in a green waste site that used it.
It was done in freezing temperatures so probably not a fair judgement but that yard crumbled at the joints between each run from constantly having buckets run over it, telehandlers pushing hard into piles and arctics screwing round tight. Was fine in the gateway and round the workshop area where it was under less stress

If you have organic matter in the soil it won't work, same for if someone has layered rubble over topsoil.

Done well it's fantastic and lasts well. But it's about doing it right not doing it cheap 😉

Don't think they could do it over concrete I thought it was cement put into the ground on a machine much like a rotator and then rolled in

I think by "over concrete" they meant in preference to laying concrete @Bob ... took me a few minutes to work that one out .... would have a job compacting concrete with a soil compaction unit
