another not looking good, but in the 'too big to let fail' group

and another with dubious results, trying hard to hide 'em at a best guess

" Company audits have been an especially sensitive topic in the construction industry since the collapse of Carillion in 2018. KPMG was fine £21m for its slack auditing work on Carillion. PwC was subsequently fined more than £5m in 2022 for failings in its audits of the accounts of Galliford Try and Kier. "

and here's a classic example of how money gets wasted on 'junkets' ... UK awards, so where's it held ... in the sun of course ... and not the UK

Not surprised building firms are going broke heard a story this morning about Sizewell that a 303 bullet case had been found so they put a 100 yard exclusion zone around it .in 1970 I was down at sizewell B for Gleeson we dug out 1 million cub metres of muck and pushed it over were they are going to build Sizewell C and removed a army shooting range target so they will find a lot of bullets including live ones

I passed just outside pontypool today around 1.45pm then back other way an hr later, 4 or 5 people stood around talking or on phones, on the way back must have been best part of 10 doing nothing, 2 highways cars 1 safety lorry various vans appeared to be looking under a subway or bridge.
No wonder nothing gets done or costs so much

and on a slightly better note ......

interesting 'jargon' .... " The private equity injection into Fox Group is part of a plan to complete the transition of the business from its haulage and earthmoving origins into a “fully integrated, circular economy construction materials solutions business. "

What exactly is that phrase?
More like "owning lots of tippers moving muck and filling old quarries with the odd boat thrown in"
Jacksons are our local big quarry/muck away site

They were my go to for most power tools. Luckily I had nothing on order.
Powertool mate cheaper usually for Milwaukee I've found.

Sad day for staff but hopefully it's a wakeup call for powertool industry ridiculously low margins ...FFX 100m last year with a 3m loss. I mean...😵‍💫

Ultimately unless margins increase it's going to mean even less dealers leading to a cartel of a few big guys who can then screw consumers...
