I've got a 6' level and a mag float tbf the level was replaced under lifetime warranty after a few years of use

Good policy few lesser know brands about that are ok.
To say all of ox is crap is a tad harsh, it's on par with normal Stanley etc . Some of their plastering/brickie stuff is ok as that was their original line.
It's not as good as the likes estwing or hultafors imo.
But they've nailed builders merchant market.

To be fair quality or not I think a few different tool brands are under the ox banner now so stocking ox (which ox will put put the display into the merchants filled with tools foc) covers most basic stuff for a builder to get a day's work done.

We have/had a brand called "1er" forget oxo, if you see 1er then you definitely have found a chancer, builders on the boat they used to call them, p+o ferries used to do intensive courses during the crossing... roofing/building etc

They're only overpriced at the builder's merchants, where every tool or diamond disc is because they know they've got a captive audience. Online they are much cheaper.

Hence why you can tell a chancer. New Ox brand tools mean they realised they needed a really basic tool of the trade that morning whilst at the builder's merchant.

I just use the free ones that come with the machines, add a g-coupler and your away! Real chancers don’t use grease anyway as you just give the machine back at the end of the finance term..

... only thing I had sign written was my cranes - name and number - otherwise all vehicles had cards in the glove box/door pocket and the lads always carried cards, otherwise never advertised in my entire biz life ..... recommendation is the best advertising your will ever get

Not sure - advertising is a different thing to signwritten kit - it depends on your situation , we haven't advertised for years but I have stuff signwritten, you are seen around working local, and i think you are in their subconscious, and i would assume they think that you must be decent as they see you working local a lot
Agree though ...When we advertised - as in put an advert in something like a magazine et - the we got someone wanting a tree stump out 3/4hr away for 30€

Chancers Re-visited. We started a technician bit back. Mid 40’s, worked for BMW and Audi before emigrating to Oz, where he’d been a forklift engineer and worked on wagons. I put him servicing our DAF that we use for internal moves. Next thing he‘d got the cab a third of the way up, weight on the ram, working between the wheel and arch. He didn’t know you were supposed to take the cab all the way over. We put him through an internal forklift course. Passed test at 12 (barely, we found out later), at 1 pm gets on the truck without checking it, (knows what he’s doing, remember he was a forklift engineer!) moves a pallet, parks truck across a walkway with the forks a foot in the air.

Someone asked him if he could weld. Yes. What processes? Can’t remember, it was in Australia. Can he use oxy to de-stress a plate that had just been welded? Course he can, just before trying to light the oxygen. So we just put him on ultra-low risk jobs, just below what we’d get a first year apprentice doing. Wants minute instructions on every job, even what size spanner to use, but if you pick him up doing something wrong he gets the arse because he knows what he’s doing. Manages to injure himself on a weekly basis, regular sick days, always on the phone, apparently to his doctor who seems to change his medication on a weekly basis. Frankly I don’t even trust him to carry a torque wrench, let alone set one and use it. I think his days may be numbered.
