Do you really want a machine returned after its been stolen? Maybe a good insurance policy would be better, saves you getting a machine back that's had parts stolen or used in a ram raid or some crap. Appreciate for some of you lads time is money on the job with these things though. Would the insurance pay out for a new machine be better?

I'm starting to look at DIY (probably chinese) tracking options too. As I'm not in the UK, a service provider is not helpful and our 3G/4G bands are different too, so specific UK based hardware also isn't helpful.
If anyone has some experience with the simpler SIM based trackers, I'd be happy to hear how you've found it.
I'd imagine it's the phone/PC software that makes the difference.

ok if you have an agreed value policy :rolleyes: .... they usually want to give you scrap price +10% if you're lucky .... quick enough to take your premiums though
and if they gave you the true value of said lump .... you then have to find a replacement :( .... prevention is far better than a cure ;)

Don't do it. Huge difference. Will find link later, but they are a waste of money.

A mate taped a personal GPS like that to his mothers walking stick when she developed a habit of wandering off down the street.

For a vehicle mounted unit, something like this looks plausible

that looks ok as long as they don't just uplift it with a hiab ?? .... or does it have motion sensing too ??

Yeah - it seems to have a few tricks: Geo-fence, on board battery (so it's able to alert when the vehicle battery has been disconnected), plus a few others including speed.
I figure if it's doing 60km/h, it's not doing it under its own power!

Set it up, easy enough. Put it in the van as a trail and its accurate and easy to use. Alerted me sd soon ad I moved off

sounds the Mutt's Boyo :cool:... wonder what battery life is going to be like ? :unsure:

In short it worked well and did exactly what it said on the tin, there is a subscription which im not sure if mentioned in the ad... not much per month but i didn't sign up. Pretty sure i can sign back up at any time though!

I will do what I wanted if i go ahead with that (y)
