Hi guys.

What are people’s general thoughts on putting tiltys on a used machine? Obviously the unit itself can be moved onto another at a later date although the cost of the control system will be a lost when you change the machine. Any other cons I’m missing out on?

Mine went on a 10 year old digger. Only had 3000hrs so plenty of life in it yet!

Don’t see any issues with putting one on a used machine. If you are thinking of changing shortly then do it all at once, if not, why not. You will get the same benefits as a new machine. I upgraded from a powertilt to a tiltrotator on one of my machines and never regretted it. Only regret was I didn’t do it sooner.

i would say it go for it as far as losing the control system it would depend on what control system you are going for if you are going for a full proportional system it can be removed and fitted to the new one later the only thing you would lose is the cost of fitting it and may be a couple of pipes i changed mine over 2 years ago from a kubota 61-3 to a new kx27-4
all the cables ect come extra length and coiled up behind the panels, you just need to unplug and strip out the gubbins and replace the old leavers and quick hitch and away you go. it took me a couple of days but if you are taking note when it is being fitted you will see what i mean the next time i think i would be able to do it a day ease

No problem moving tiltrotators between machines. The control system will all be removable and reuseable, the big thing to remember is to keep your old levers etc. Some people think they will sell the old quick hitch etc and then find they dont have one ro but on the old machine when they swap the tilty. Something to bear in mind

We fit as many, if not more, tilties on to older machines as new ones, so age is no barrier to entry to Tiltydom.

As Aiden says, the control system and other bits can be salvaged (and keep the original levers); but the biggest issue will be the hitch or top bracket geometry (and obviously the digger size). A tilty on a 4 tonne machine may be stressed on a 6 tonner, likewise a tilty from a 20 tonner will nod on, say, a 14 tonne digger. The dipper geometry (pin centres, sizes and widths) changes dramatically between different brands of digger as well.

The other point to make is that, as I think Ross @Regy53 has said in the past, a digger with a tilty is often easier to sell on, fetching more than the sum of the parts.
