do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
if it's struggling for fuel it could also be running lean / starving slightly

It’s what I do!
Do you have a banjo fitting at the injection pump? Is there a filter in it?

cracked fuel lift pipe. I got it out from the top by moving the alternator forward, moving all the wiring harnesses and the big vent line. once the line was off I was able to thread it out by hand switching between top and bottom access . the ID of the inside of the pipe is .6345 inches (16.1 mm) and it is very thin walled copper. off to the hardware store!

Turns out my local home store (Lowes) sells a 1/2" x 12" repair coupling. The plastic suction pipe fitting has an identical OD (5/8") of nominal 1/2" copper tube. the wall is a little thicker (heavier schedule), so slightly larger OD, but worked out great; this thing will never split again. the larger OD just barely fits into the bung, but I got it all back together and running nice.

Hope this helps someone. there are literally dozes of us still running these machines, LOL!

AFAIK there is no filter IN my banjo fitting just the one a little upstream of it.

The original concept is not flawless! This idea is used on compressor fuel tanks, the tube falls off into the tank, the compressor only runs for a short while when full of fuel.

so the tube that'd split merely pushes onto the spigot? easy fix then  with the right bit of replacement tubing (1/2" copper's wall has reduced dramatically over the years to 'save' on copper ... just find an old bit and compare to today's .... 2-3 times the thickness)(y)
