Any one on here run a Sany? Are they here to stay or just a flash in the pan?
Been offered what seems a very good deal on an SY75C, two proportional aux lines, air con, led lights, blade, geith hitch and 3 buckets. 5 year/3000 hour warranty, £51k.

Yanmar engine, eaton slew motor, think he said Kawasaki pumps. So parts shouldn’t really be an issue?

Aye right enough I was down newry way and AG Wilson had two doing work along the warrenpoint road in all fairness they looked tidy and I think they had the aux lines and all fitted.. I suppose they are all much of a muchness just different colours and names.. sleators have some stuff in the yard when I was past there..

My thoughts.
I have seen some articles where they are being used by high hour operations in demolition and waste transfer where they run them for 3-5 years and move them on. Price per hour then works out well as they would take a depreciation hit whatever they run!!
I run a secondhand 8ton kobelco which only gets 500ish hours per year. Would prefer something that has a name rather than the Sany. Someone once told me you can sell s**t in a great market. But you can’t give it away when it is not.

Sany are a huge concern worldwide aren’t they?
adew guys on my Twitter feed use them and all seems fine, some had a huge component fail (ac compressor went and ripped the side of the engine out!!) but I believe it’s all being dealt with Professionally..

No personal experience of them, and rumours are rumours, but I’ve heard some pretty bad things when it comes to parts availability, but might be bullshit?
At the end of the day if the dealer stocks enough parts then it shouldn’t be an issue, the problem is going to come when parts need to be ordered in, certainly at the moment there could be issues….
I’m also not convinced it’s that far off some other more mainstream brands, price wise, to be worth the risk?
I’ve always argued that you can’t expect a machine to compete with the top end brands, and fit quality parts etc, and be lots cheaper with it. So shouldn’t expect a perceived lesser brand to be both brilliant and cheap.
But in this instance you’ve got to consider the other factors, ie parts availability, dealer consistency, the brand still being here in a couple of years time, and possibly the potential residual value. And the residual value will be massively hit by changes to the brands presence in the uk market.

Yous have all voiced my concerns, re sale being the main one. Reliability should be ok, especially the main stream parts.

Ahh right, ok, not realised there was so much between them. I can appreciate you considering the Sany, it’s a big saving, but if I’m honest I know which one I’d be going for….

They have a 2017 86c coming in, £34k, seems reasonable?

I just looked them up - wiki lists them as:

I think there is a lot of snobbery involved tbh. Had a look at an SY18 and a JCB 16C in a hire centre yard, both brand new unused, and in all honesty, the Sany seemed to be better built.
Can’t comment on steel quality but the Sany definitely had more steel in it

Sleator is a sound dealer. I worked for Ballyvesey for a good few years as GM of sister business southern plant.

The guys at Sleator are well experienced. I woudlnt be to fussed for buying a used Sany, but you never know
