dealer 'mechanics' these days are are just box fitters .. take it out the box and fit it .. diagnostic skills're few and far between, unless you're lucky enough to get a 60 yr old, old skool fitter on the job.

got a mate who owns /runs a nice landrover garage ,rung him up tother day said losing 1/2 pint of water a week on the disco ,he said oh thats a piece of plastic on top of the engine that delaminates and lets water out ,sure enough he was correct.hes 58

It's a 4WD with some sort of Haldex system.
When I had a succession of Disco 3s it was reported many times about the washboard effect.
This tends to give the torque converter hell
One cured a a power flush of the auto box.
With my Disco 3 I was ahead of the game and believe that prevention is better than cure.
So I upgraded the auto box filter, which was a standard ZF box upgrade. Then I did my own power flush.
Basically you pull the hoses of the ATF oil cooler and feed in new fluid and collect the old black stuff.

Stop when it comes clear - gets all the tish out of the torque converter
So with Rod and Nicola's Evoke gonna get it back over my pit and give the drive shafts and good old shake.
Failing that it goes to the main stealers soon for a LR recall job.
They should identify it - they are the experts

does it have a rubber bonded flex joint/damper on the rear propshaft some haldex equipped vehicles do they can delaminate/crack around the rubber and lead to odd vibrations and noises etc.

No such luck
It has the more complex Haldex unit as described by this Haldex Repair company
We have given the gearbox another oil change and the vibration is still there.
My own 'feel' is a 'scrabbling' like it's stuck in 4WD
Gonna have to give this loads more thought before the Main Stealers are let loose on it

same goes for hammers and chisels .... friend of mine lost an eye when a shard off a chisel went right into his eyeball
this was a virtually new Buck & Hickman getting smacked with a 4lb hammer cutting a weld off a plate ... never trust a chisel and the shards can come off either end - always keep the 'hitty' bit clean and tapered

thin disc and take the bulk off then taper it back towards centre 4-5mm ... then keep on top of the taper

But £20 odd quid on Amazon they aren't daft money and rate they grow you need a few pairs

Dealer boots are the future, sod lacing up and unlacing. Ive not bought lace up boots in 14 years now. I didnt like dealer boots at first but didnt take long for me to convert

Especially if you do jobs like I was on today- through a house with grey carpets. Bloody handy being able to slip your boots of at the door with your hands full....

One thing we adults (I use the term loosely) forget is how much closer kids eyes are to where the action is happening.

The grey surface and beach lines show it missed a stage in the heat treatment. That was a failure waiting to happen

Wish I'd thought of that - ordered a nice pair of Stanley Impact Safety Boots from Toolstation last night.
It's what I wear and they are so comfortable
