…..and in the above photo some of you may have noticed my Yang Tong ‘rattle gun’ recently bought on eBlag 😎
As a Makita copy can’t fault it for value at £43.99
Obviously today I’m using it as a nut runner and using a nice torque wrench for the final grunt on my nuts 🤪
Here’s a link for y’all to enjoy :
so what's it like ?
very similar to the Katsu unit, but a lot cheaper

got a few bits of corded Katsu stuff which has so far proven reliable ... their die grinder has been very handy / good and their 3" grinder ...
get what you pay for with this stuff and certainly wouldn't have wanted it on the workshop benches, but fine for my intermittent / occasional use

Can’t believe that my new Navara will be 5 years old at the end of the month. That means I’m all on my own with servicing and repairs 🤪
So today did some prep before the salty winter roads kick in….

….liberal dousing of good old Waxoyl should do it 😉
And rotated me newish General Grabbers whilst at it 😎
I'm just taking the cab off my cabstar for a replacement. I think I'll be wax oiling under the new cab and around the engine area when the cab is off. What do you mix it with. I used to heat it up, mix with white spirits and put it on with a sulzt gun

should go on fine out of a schultz gun well warmed Dyl ... thinning it defeats the self healing stickiness

Yep exactly that. As long as it’s warmish and diluted with white spirits it will spray on easy. As per the photo I always keep some in a paraffin gun ready for use 😎

Where did you get a new cab from mate?
I Waxoiled a Landy yesterday coincidentally - just put the 5l tin in a bucket and keep boiling the kettle/pour it into the bucket. No need to thin it, it’s super runny and absolutely horses out of a shutz gun.

The land rover mob seem to have gone off waxoil and now all seem to be championing lanoguard. Sprays on with a hand sprayer and supposedly wicks in behind components.

I'll second the use of Lanoguard.

Used it just over a year ago on the X3. Very easy to apply and as a wax, creeps to a degree. I need to go over it again, supplier recommends an annual treatment, but to be honest there's no need, when I gave it a once over at MOT back in June all was 100% as if it had only been done.

I was sceptical of it at the time, having been a great fan of Dinitrol in the past. For a sort of abuse test I sprayed it on the underside of the mower deck, and on rusting areas of the deck support frame. It's now had two seasons of cutting and ocassionally pressure washing and the lanoguards still there. Maybe not covering the underside of the deck as it was, but certainly still present. The bits on the frame are still waxy and haven't shown the slightest sign of Red Devil bleeding through.

I have not tried Lanoguard so cannot comment on it but I do use Dinitrol on my classic cars They produce a wide variety of rust proofers, Personally I use Dinitrol ML which I spray all over the underside, Its just a thin brown liquid s gets in everywhere, after it has dried off a bit I then spay on Dinitrol 4941 which is a thick black wax that never goes off rock hard so stays flexible it does get messy I always put some cardboard down.

There's a cabstar guru in Gloucestershire I've dealt with previously. Duncan cabstar UK. He recons he's got a real good cab, I presume 2nd hand. The poorer grade cab was £1500 , not sure how much for a1 grade. But if 2k and lasts 5 years, it's cheap. He recons 1hr to get cab off, I'm nearly ready after about 1 1/2 hrs.

I've had the cab off a TK a few times ... easiest way to work on the motor ... hour tops and it's onthe floor ..throttle link off brake/clutch pedals unbolt, 'lectrics unplug, handbrake cable off, heater pipes off, steering joint and IIRC 4 cab mount bolts -- open the windows, slip a couple of scaff planks in, sling each end and lift (y)

Very similar to the cabstar. The more modern one tip I believe

Is this a TK? It was on today’s job and I want to buy it (the 25l plastic Jerry-rigged fuel tank has sealed the deal, I reckon it’s perfect!)

Well I do like my Makita 18v tools but a rattle gun usually gets punished and kicked around the workshop. So I decided to buy a cheap copy. This one appears to be very good. It actually undid my wheel nuts! And although I torque them up like y'all I give them an extra grunt. So this will live with me on the next tear down of my stuff in the workshop and out on site. And it came with 2 x batteries
And I often use Aim Tools on eBay for stuff, so I'll take a free look at the Katsu tools on offer ;)

too big to be a TK .. As Bri says MK -- check out the box and how many headlights does it have - 2 or 4 ? ..... but all shared the same cab ... good basic trucks .. have had several over the years and liked all of them .... have done a lot of miles in TKs
