With all this staff I assume there a big outfit? Are they a national sales and hire? It’s pretty easy to ignore somebody if you want so it’s likely not embarrassment just hoping your go away

Family run plant sales firm from what I can see - sales manager doesn’t appear to be related to the boss/firm (boss’s surname is the company name). Not a massive firm, definitely avoiding me. Was no lack of immediate and very helpful communication whilst the deal was being done, but now nothing.

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
I’m as annoyed with them for not answering/returning my calls and emails since pulling the plug as anything else - I’m sure the sales director (who seemed a genuinely decent bloke on the phone) has been put in a really awkward position and is probably too embarrassed to talk to me.
email and tell him you understand if he's been stuffed by his superiors ... you just want a conversation either way...either to buy it, or walk on to the next ... ;)

I have emailed. Will endeavour to speak to someone on Monday for closure. I’ll report back here either way (and name them so you lot don’t get messed around if they are taking the piss).

Really Ross, come on, imagine if the shoe was on the other foot?....the machine in question, if I’m right in how I’m reading this form the start, isn’t even the one he was after?, it’s one that hasn’t been advertised yet?....possibly because they haven’t gone through it yet to give it a clean bill of health??...pretty sure you go through all your machines to make sure they are all fit for purpose before you put them on your website,....so that you have/keep the good name you have for selling on genuine machines. It maybe does sound a bit of a coincidence, but what would you do if that machine was under your umbrella, and someone phoned you up and said they were on a forum etc,etc??....there’s no proof at all of what’s right and not right in regards to this sale so anyone naming and shaming needs to be very careful in what they put up, legally or otherwise. There might not be that many members on here, but you’ll be very surprised who looks in. It also wouldn’t look good banding this forums name around in situations like this, it could very easliy back fire, and you’ve put a tremendous amount of time and money to get this forum up and running by yourself, and it would be a shame to see it get blackballed by manufactures and the like.

If they have done as per suggested being very handy in the deal and then disappearing then yes because they bring out industry into disrepute. Gladly there are no names mentioned here so everybody has time to gather their thoughts but my experience tells me this
If somebody is buying somthing you are committed to sell it to them. If they place a deposit on it then a million percent you shouldn’t let them down and a oil leak shouldn’t hurt that it’s part and parcel
Of risk vs reward.
Used plant dealing is not a skilled trade we are gamblers in our own right you win and lose as gamblers do, the biggest thing is to win more than you lose and use experience as your skill. If you buy a machine say a js130 that’s a 2010 with 3000 hours and it retails at 30k then that is what it’s worth. If you pre sell it and it needs a few more quid than you hoped to sort it then that’s your loss. You can’t sell it leaking, it’s worth no more working as it shouldn’t leak to start with so you put your big boy pants on and sort it for the customer at your cost and say no more. That’s how I have worked and will continue too. I am not entirely sure to the exacts with this deal but it helps to mention that your part of a group because it makes you realise that you need to be people of your word. If you don’t think this then fine.
ultimately if they had ore sold it and it needed more than they thought it’s always worth speaking with the end user to see if they will commit to more rather than naffing them off. This in itself puts the decision back with the buyer who can say no don’t worry or yes il pay more to sort. Given the sales director has said it’s not being sold for enough and this is back in the end users ear shows it to be very messy

Also I would rather we never used social media for anything but the times I have been mugged of in my life has taught me it’s very powerful

I bought a used 50k car last year( retail) advertised with full history etc and a service just being carried out and when I got it home and looked it had history but the service they carried out missed a few bits mainly( spark plugs ) which was around £500 due to the labour to do, after communicating with the dealer they wiped there hands of it, despite many times showing them, emailing that they should have done it, proving it and the likes.
They were wrong they did not want to know so I left a review. I was pleasant but truthful The car was fine, not quite as described and I had to spend money to sort the history. I suggested the car was in great shape buy cars from there but be sure to check all history as mine was mis described. A day later I was contacted by a director suggesting it was there error and they would like to pay for what was needed if I removed my review. My review was not wrong, it was 1000 correct and it took it to make them see business is business

There was no deposit paid Ross, they have the right to do what they want, the same as you do and any other dealer.....social media is very powerful, I totally agree with you, and in the past has also been very good/helpful to me as well, instergram, Facebook, Twitter, tripadvisor.....everyone has heard of them, if you said you were going to leave a review on Plant Talk, think you’d be be met with a blank look.

A million percent agree with you, the deposit is a key thing I take a deposit as it forms a deal regardless of the outcome it’s commitment from both ends.

I never said leave a review on plant talk?

I’ve kept the dealer’s name out of this as I don’t believe it is fair to drag them through the mud without knowing absolutely for sure that they are reneging on our deal. They are on other social media platforms, although I haven’t approached them in any way other than phone and email.
Unfortunately my belief is that they aren’t being honourable, and their lack of communication only goes to reinforce my view.
I hope I can reconnect our line of communication next week and discover for certain if they are the sort of company that can be trusted or not. A simple phone-call would have made a massive difference (even if it was a ‘sorry mate, we’ve cocked up and could do with some more money’ type of call).

Yeh, it is out of order that they haven’t got back to you, but the problem that you have and probably most of us on here have is that if you expect people to be with you, how you are with them, you will always come of worse unfortunately.
Think if I was you, I’d just move on and give your money to someone else, because regardless of what happens in the future, you will always be thinking, “did they” or “didn’t they“ ?.

I wouldn't be too hasty just yet, wait a few working days if you can and see if there is a genuine enough reason like someones been off for a few days for personal reasons and nobody is getting involved in the deals they have incase it confuses things, or like you say an issue with the machine has appeared and they need to look into it more. Granted communication is important but just because communication is poor doesn't mean it's a bad company. You can get the best communication from a company and still get burned.
Also on a side point how many percent is @Regy53 going to max out at, 1000- 1million! Or 1 billion? 😆

Yeh, totally agree with you as in things that could be going on that you don’t know about and communication, however, for me, it’s the gut feeling you get about something, and I think that your gut feeling is very rarely wrong.

I had a similar kind of experience about ten years ago purchasing a used 3cx from a large dealer,do’nt wish to drop any names let’s just call them BOLT JCB,their main sales fella contacted me very promptly with a machine I was after did a fair deal on site px etc, prices agreed, hands shaken,2 days later met at their depot to view the machine ,all good. Then followed a weird Mexican standoff situation as he decided our agreed price was too low, this being the asking price with no haggling having taken place, this went on for over an hour with him leaving the room to talk to his”boss” several .times,at one point he held his head in his hands,I thought he might cry !
Eventually we were able to purchase the machine as agreed by calling his bluff and pretty much refusing to leave without it.
I got the distinct impression this was’nt a one off from this guy but probably his normal sales pantomime.
The machine was worth the nonsense but left a sour taste.
