We are joking about it, but the trouble is how you distribute white diesel.So it looks like red is 105p/L and white is 125p/L so 20p/L. £100 divided into £0.20 = 500L of fuel in a day
are you sure them TB175’s are worth it
IMHO any white fuel put in a digger on a small job wants to be priced at £1 above it's cost in bulk/garage price. Time you have either brought a bowser and had it stolen or filled from jerry cans that you picked up at a garage your quickly accumulating aggrovation.
I am charging £100 a day extra now on construction jobs, with agri work at either £400/day with fuel supplied or £350/day with customer supplied.... Working well.

To be fair, it’s a real faff going to fuel station to fill a bowser then transfer into machines, spent a hour the otherday doing this and it’s only around the corner!

On another note, it’s actually surprising that 1/3 of you are still on red on construction jobs 
I just pass the cost onto the customer/job and have no problem with doing that.

What's the score with this then, clearly a machine flicking regularly between agri and Construction isn't always going to finish the tank before refilling with the next colour. Wonder what level of contamination is acceptable!

Some say just fill it up for your intended work and have fuel invoices to prove.
Some say drain it change filters etc!
I can’t be bothered with any of that and just run white for everything.. work on my own land just costs me more and any Agri work I do is just flat rate on white the same as everyone else pays anyway.
It’s a messy situation and one that needs a fix tbh!

not a lot from what I have read .... but as said, swapping 'tween jobs and plenty of fuel rcpts .. would be an arguable scenario I'd've thought, 'specially if you wanted to fight 'em

Legally machines need to be drained, cleaned and filters changed.... Although I know several organisations/associations are looking forward to making a mockery of HMRC in court.
IMHO would be best for all to completely outlaw red and give farmers a grant towards the taxation cost based on acreage.... Farm fuel efficiency and your actually earning money off the grant.

My understanding is you can fill the machine according to the job. If you come off a compliant job using red, then y you’ve can simply start filling with white when on a non compliant job, if you were checked and found to have red in the tank, it’s then your job to prove why you had run on red and they may potentially check at a later date to see the level of red dropping in the tank.
If any of that ever happens is anyones guess
I can understand why some people can’t be arsed with having red and white, if your legitimate Red use is very low then it’s a ball ache, but if you have enough compliant work then I believe it’s worthwhile to keep using it where you can.
The difference between the cost of red and white has probably never been closer, making it even easier to justify running white. I’m sure that’s no coincidence…..
But if you are using several thousand litres a year then there will be savings worth having

giving farmers a grant seems to be the way to solve everything . Farmers up here recently got grants for new tractor tyres because the old ones squashed the ground too much.
