..... I wonder if it has to be screwed back in, to reveal the spring ring, then wound out after the clip has been removed ?

unusual to be threaded without being wound down to a seat though
and with only one drive hole in the end cap ... fair chance of leaking past the threads too .... ..... will be interesting to see the final outcome on this one

Main side to ram would be piston for pushing rod side just for retracting back for another gounusual to be threaded without being wound down to a seat though
Would have o rings to seal against cylinder and snap ring to stop coming off with lock washer/bolt to stop cap turning?

Remember having one that had ball bearings in a groove behind a grub screw to hold the cap on
