Quick couplers

All, hope everyone is keeping out of trouble. I’ve been working around home and have been using a rock hammer and flail on a machine for various jobs, however every time I need to change the attachment, I can’t get the couplers to click into each other and end up having to slackin the fitting. They are flat face couplers, it good condition, the machine is a case cx130. I have tried the machine off, pressing hammer pedal both ways but nothing seems to work? Any help much appreciated

Are you slackening the fitting on the machine or the attachment to be able to get the couplings together? I am assuming it’s the machine, as you are saying that you are attempting to depressurise the circuit?

To release the pressure on my Takeuchi I have to turn the engine off, ignition back on (with dead-man in operating position obviously) and actuate the spool in one direction, then ignition off and on again and actuate in the other direction, and repeat this process a couple of times.

As said. Switch off then ign on and activate the curcuit to release the pressure.

Do you have shut off valves near the quick couplings?

No, you don’t shut the off?
Try shutting the flow line shut off valve before disconnecting the flow line which you should do first, then disconnect the return side. Not as important to shut off the return if it’s one way as if should be free flow to tank, if it’s two way then probably best to shut it off before you disconnect.
I’m guessing that the one you struggle with is the flow side and not the return?

Don't know how this will compare to your machine but i find the takeuchi method as described above can be a bit hit and miss as to whether it works. On takeuchis the return line is changed from two way to free return by turning a valve with a spanner (this can be done with a switch on some machines). I find the best method on a takeuchi is to switch return to free flow then press switch for aux return (whilst engine is running and dead man lever down) this dumps pressure in both lines. I do this for connecting and disconnecting works almost every time don't know if it will work for you.

Rotators seem to be the worst for residual pressure.
Ive half a mind to put a tee with a tap between the two couplings. Just open it to equalise pressure when you want to connect or disconnect. Save all this engine off aggro- with the e27 it’s engine off, ignition on, if you wiggle the rocker without waiting a second you get an error, and for the second auxyou need to press the button to activate the second aux too before you can depressurise it! Right pain.
