Helping a friend out fitting a hedge cutter to his tractor its a old twose cutter but it as puzzled me because the hydraulic pump fits directly on to the pto shaft theres no bolts or brackets to hold it in place only a chain.now in my mind the pump will spin or does the chain hold it from spinning never seen one like it before. Just wondered if any one on here as seen one,its a properly made unit not a bodge but i dare not try it before i get to know better tried adding a picture but its failed me

The chain stops it spinning. Usually goes round a pin inserted in one of the spare top link holes. Not so common on hedge cutters but very common on forestry cranes.

That was how the old McConnell three-point linkage excavators were powered. The pump dances a bit when load comes on and off but they work okay.

You'd be way better off with a modern battery compressor. Makita are good, the M18 Milwaukee is very expensive but by all accounts a weapon.

A compact tractor and PTO compressor doesn't exactly fit in the glovebox!

I’ve a little fag lighter compressor, fine for top ups, but painful filling up a big 30” tyre.. needs must sometimes!

The tmax ones will happily do tractor tires albeit from crocodile clips on the battery

I nicked the one out of the boot of our old Citroën when we scrapped it...it was the last electrical thing working on it......must of been outsourced.
Steady with dumper tyres mind.
