I keep looking at the grafter on line while desperately searching for a late tidy Iveco crewcab or tool pod tipper,the grafter with the bigger engine brand new about 6 grand cheaper than new Iveco,really tempting I just do’nt like the look of the tiny low cab.

The cab is not as bad as they look. They do a wide cab but obviously heavier. But I'm 6'4 and can comfortably drive them for about an hour. Much more than that on a regular basis then a normal van might be better

To be fair I rarely spend more than hour at a time in the van, and I’m nowhere near6’4”.

Apologies, it is a Canter i was talking about, not a Grafter.

Mate of mines just bought a grafter 3.5 ton tipper. 3.5 ton towing, 3.0 engine (I think), aircon and Bluetooth but other than that a proper basic 90s style cab , 6 speed manual and a great turning circle. He loves it, I've only driven it around the yard but I though it was great as well. I'd certainly have one

Thought they would have looked “better” after all this time, like the 86c-1 etc was released in 2014. It looks like they took inspiration from David Brown when they designed the cab doors

There’s a pro version to be released yet, with aircon and all the gunns spec cupholders I’m told….
I’ve driven a preproduction one, and it wasn’t bad, it’s got a lot to live up to the 8026, and they have made some compromises to get the weight down which is no bad thing really and brings it into line with the competition. I’m hoping for a demo this year to try it on site before I commit to buying one.

Next buy- either a Disco4 or a td5/2.4 110. I know the pros and cons of all of them, it's most likely to be what I see at a smart buy price come march/April. Although a D4 is edging it at the moment as that would let me buy a tax exempt 90 or series 3 as a toy

On a smaller scale- the laser engraver I mentioned elsewhere. Stepsister bought my dad a plywood box for Christmas, the laser engraving of a special section of OS map turns it into

Well I've put my money where my mouth is, a D4 commercial will be mine next week.
Coming off the farm where my yard is, been very well looked after, 2 new tyres last week, new turbos and some other body off jobs done last year. Not top spec but good enough. 160k on the clock, bit more than I'd like obviously but history makes up for it. Along with the lack of agro from buying from someone I know- 'hi mate, definitely selling d4, if you meet the £4800 part ex value it yours' yes please 'OK, we'll send you an invoice when the new one gets here, no rush'
They're replacing it with a D5 HSE commercial, I think he's looking forward to that!
Unfortunately my d2 will almost certainly have to go, just won't fit the 'fleet', well not with the cost of the tax and insurance on it . I'll have to cheer myself up by looking for that tax exempt toy

As for the laser engraver, glad I didn't go for that as work has gone manic, can't see much time for learning how to use it and then selling the products I'd make....

This 'grafter'- actually a Canter as I said a few posts later!
Engine 'ran away' with itself last week, 13k on the clock, less than 6 months old
Bloody awful, really hope that it gets sorted for him as painlessly as possible
