When I was looking at them I was advised to go twin if always running heavy or towing.
I've had 2 sprinters both single wheel and I was dubious at first but I never found them worse than a dual.

The only plus I did find was that I'd get less stuck on grass verges with single than dual.

Yeah was 25 I'm sure until they realised how much of OUR money they were losing
never been a rolling 25 years ... was 25 when first introduced - anything made pre 1st January 1973 and had a points system to determine just how original it was --- '72 chassis with all new/later bits would not count

has it not got to be 60% original ?

As I remember it was rolling 25 then cut at 73 (as you say was contention in what scraped in or missed out) then many years later to 40 roll over came in.

I don't remember exact year but I remember the 25 stopping.

I keep looking at the grafter on line while desperately searching for a late tidy Iveco crewcab or tool pod tipper, the grafter with the bigger engine brand new about 6 grand cheaper than new Iveco, really tempting I just do’nt like the look of the tiny low cab.

Mate of mines just bought a grafter 3.5 ton tipper. 3.5 ton towing, 3.0 engine (I think), aircon and Bluetooth but other than that a proper basic 90s style cab 👍, 6 speed manual and a great turning circle. He loves it, I've only driven it around the yard but I though it was great as well. I'd certainly have one 😀

They look very robust but I’m led to believe the payload is very small as the vehicle itself weighs quite a bit. Would you know what the unladen weight of it is?

The payload on the Grafter is best in class. About 1500kg depending on single/twin wheel and body. Nothing else (apart from maybe Cabstar) will touch it for Payload and turning circle. Cab is great for short trips but a Transit is a lot nicer if you are in it all day. 3.0 litre is older engine. They went to 1.9L euro 6 in 2019 ish? 3.0 litre was better for towing IIRC

somewhere I have the details of what spec. it has/had to achieve ... was basically points for original engine/gearbox/axle casings/diff.s/chassis obviously/ and a few other odds 'n sods .... had to score above 8 from memory ... will see if I can find it

🤣 I got wire crossed.

There's a nice 1 on there with tool pod etc but obviously payload goes down

Grafter Specs. Almost 1.5t on SWB. Not sure if this is Chassis or Drop side or Tipper tho.
