Prodem prb010 breaker steel

Does anyone have a source for a long breaker steel for a prodem breaker I have a 7ft fence to put up in very chalky ground and only access for a 3t digger. I was thinking I could go along and rock spike the holes with the pecker but the steel we have at the moment is barely long enough to put a hole deep enough.

You'll just end up getting the point stuck. You'd be much better off putting in a pilot hole with an auger instead.

9 ft timber posts for a fence for a dog walking area unfortunately it's along the edge of a wood along the back of a hedgeline and the normal cut the trees down to get the tractor postknocker in isn't a option as the woods are to be part of the appeal I think I can reach over the hedge with the manitou to drive the posts with the pecker on tbh there is only about 30 to do so the other option is to auger them and set them with concrete

A post knocker on a 3t machine should handle that fine, we do quite a bit of that for pheasant pens on chalk. Drive along knocking them in behind you. I presume you're only talking 3-4" tops.

Hmm that was my second thought to find a postnocker to go on the 3t I think we're talking 4 inch of topsoil then into fragmented chalk

It's the pulling it back out which will cause the issues!

Thanks it's for a farmer so it'll definitely be hard work over hiring more kit

Do you think they will go tight enough drilled at 6" and tamped back in tbh agri fencing isn't really my thing I'm more used to domestic stuff

Do you think I would need a rock flight for chalk @Giles ? I know it can just about be dug with a bucket but it need teeth on

Mine have carbide teeth but can get the rock ones with the points from planers etc on,

think you’d be fine with normal carbide toothed auger 4” for 4x4 posts and ramming them gets them as tight as concrete etc

I don't know what I was worried about the pecker with the driving cup dropped them all in though if they had to go another 6" it wouldn't have happened
