Post knocker tracked dumper project

Might just be a case of turning the eyelet round on the lug then. Shouldn't matter which way round the tails are imho

the tail has to be gripped/choked by the U bolt .. can slide through the shoe

My first postknocking setup was a Wrag (200kg weight) on a Zetor 7045. If I remember the flow was around 20 L/min. The problem was the weight was painfully slow getting to the top of the mast. Wasn't too bad if pulling the weight from the bottom of the mast as momentum seemed to help but if lifting of the top of a strainer post for example it wouldn't do it. Was that a pressure problem rather than flow perhaps as said the ram to lift the weight is pretty short stroke so would have thought there would be enough flow.
In the end Wrag built me one with a PTO pump mounted on the knocker and that was ace

Sounds an interesting project though and would be a handy unit for awkward jobs that big setups couldn't entertain.

The leverage changes on the typical UK style knockers as the weight gets higher.
Could use another kinghitter or a browns as they don't use the lever style set up so would be fine lifting the weight at any height
Although I don't know if these would get tedious with the low flow.

There’s a place that covers whole of uk, has a fleet of them for hire, iirc.

My other thought is whether you might need opposing counterweight. I imagine the dumper is pretty light once skip is removed and think the P30 has a 210kg weight plus weight of telescopic mast etc hanging over the edge might be a bit much for the dumper?

I'd be uprating that pump as a matter of course, 12l/min is painfully slow. I also strongly suspect the pressure won't be enough.

Is the dumper full hydraulic drive or is it hydrostatic with steering clutches? If the latter I think you'll still be jumping on and off it unfortunately.

It's these factors that have stopped me looking at making a knocker mount on my dumper.

Fully hydrostatic but bigger belt drives pumps for motors vs small pump for tip/swivel

Plenty of bigger evo style ones but not seen many smaller units for hire and like to have kit in yard to jump on jobs that get thrown at us.

Dislike hiring as well, dead money

Dumper doesn’t get much use as not high tip, we’ve got 1 ton wheeled and 600kg tracked so it’s kind of kept for wet drainage work were its swivel is real handy

Plus got 20 odd acres at yard and another 15 down in Hereford so towable fence fixer be handy

That looks a lovely setup. I've often thought about alpine for a fencing setup. It usually came down to lack of weight because I needed a rock spike really which made it all quite heavy. But for a towable unit that can get places an alpine would be ace. Quick moving it around site too which is where the digger knockers aren't so good- working around farms and displaced fields etc. My dad has a small alpine the only problem I'd have with it is it's a bugger to get on and off it- which would make a bit awkward for the solo fencer on and off etc.
I think the P30 contractor model is a brilliant looking thing, all the movement you need in a small package and still decent enough weight for most strainers etc

Nice idea but not sure how you'd rig up suitable device/crane to hang the auger off and get enough down force for it to do its job, especially on such a small carrier. Perhaps a post cradle or tool box on the other side though if there is space?

I wonder if a log splitter style arrangement could work? Probably run a good risk of messing up the dumper rotator though.
I saw a youtube vid a while back where the dumper had a dozer blade at the far end and that was used to increase the pressure on the auger.
