Are there such places as plant scrapyards, relatively centralised repositories of parts? Say I wanted to buy four E10 booms. Is it just a matter of keeping an eye out for individual ones or are there places that would always have a few of each common machine in?

Not really for small stuff bar JCB who have Vickery plant.

Trouble with breaking diggers under 13t is the fact that no one wants to pay the cost of the bits, and no one sells the stricken item cheap..... Plus there is no residual profit in scrap..... A 10t machine at worst is going to bring in a grand if it went in the pot, with say £1000 a track motor, £200 a ram, £500 engine, £500 pump, £500 slew motor.... You soon get 3-4k without much bother and will likely pay 4-10k for a breaker...... More money, newer unit, better price for bits.

Mini digger wise I looked at two 016 taks before Christmas, one with a dead engine and stripped and another that had been rolled with dead engine and pump..... Seller would not budge from 4k each..... He also sold them both in the end for 7k 😳 now there isn't 3.5k of bits on a mini to start with.
