Parking 360 excavator for long periods

Evening all,

So my question is what is the correct position to leave a 360 in when it’s being left for long periods?
After a quick google I see the general consensus is to leave it with as little of the pistons showing as possible, but is it okay to leave it with the dipper tucked right back under the boom and the dipper resting on the floor to keep the machine compact??

not if you want to keep the rod in the cylinder ...... define long periods? have seen rods plastered in grease when stood up and don't forget to cover the exhaust

Okay well I will steer away from that then! 4 - 5 months is the sort of time frame I am thinking about.

what machine is it? ... some'll stick exposed rods better than others ... my old '87 Jake has a few rods exposed and have been for years ..... dunno how the newer stuff'd fare though ??

It’s a Hitachi ZX85, not sure on the year but fairly new.

Mice and such moving in and eating their way around is a bigger problem I reckon - I put rat poison here and there and used a spray product on the pipework/cables/sound proofing etc when its going to be parked a week or two.

Makes no odds how you park it really, grease the Rods, antifreeze it and preferably park on timbers.

That would be worse for the rubber tracks surely Rory be point loading them for a long duration would have said on firm flat ground

I'd put a couple of 6x3's along the tracks but tbh if it's only going to be for 6 months could you not give it half a hours 'exercise' once a month to stop corrosion issues also it would reduce condensation issues
