Imagine the driver rocking back up in the yard with that load....![]()
In all fairness I think he did use the tool well . I’d say he achieved the objective sooner than expected . His health and safety awareness was spot on , he knew when the green light on the roof showing he had his seat belt on just wasn’t going to cut it for what was about to follow .Ferk...
lucky sod to walk from that
Lad was telling me yesterday he had one of his trucks stopped on the M62, 2.9m so no M/O or maybe it was no escort needed, I can't remember the ins and outs, and not with in the curfew time. There was a lifting eye on top sticking out 30mm and they went to do him with a £300 fine.yes yes that's a nice sight..

Up to 2.9m, or 305mm overhang, no movement order/notification needed.Lad was telling me yesterday he had one of his trucks stopped on the M62, 2.9m so no M/O or maybe it was no escort needed, I can't remember the ins and outs, and not with in the curfew time. That was it, bang on 2.9m on the base, with a stupid little eye on top sticking out 30mmUp to 2.9m, or 305mm overhang, no movement order/notification needed.
I would guess he's in the process of getting himself set up, looking at the cribbing under the rigger beam - he's used the bucket to get that under there and for the size of that machine they're going to have to provide a good pad under his jack... unless he's working over his N/S and rear exclusively ... no one in his right mind would work over thatOne for @V8Druid
Metric nowalways used to be under 10ft - no MO ... but second man ... over 10ft second man and the full works ... has it been reduced to 2.9m??
305mm overhang, either side, on an 8' 2" trailer would put you over 10ft @craig ?
Good job my 18t is 2.896mmMetric now
For C&U, (STGO similar but some slight measurement differences)
Up to 2.9m, and less than 305mm overhang nothing needed.
Over 2.9m up to 3.5m, 2day notice, markers, lights in darkness, white/red front/back, not just beacons.
Over 3.5m up to 4.3m, 2 days notice, markers, lights, and attendant.
Over 4.3m they are a bit vague, but I believe a highway VR1 notification as well as the 2 day police notice, Highways advise at least 2 weeks notice, over 5m definitely.
The 305mm overhang applies to smaller vehicles/trailers as well, even though they may still be less wide than a normal truck.
Rear overhang,
Up to 1m, nothing specified.
1m to 2m, clearly visible.
2m to 3.05m, Marker boards.
over 3.05m, 2 day police notice, end marker, side marker, attendant needed.
Front overhang the same except an attendant is needed from 2m
If you are doing oversize regular, you can apply for dispensation from the various police force area you pass through, you don't need to give 2 days notice, but have to carry copies of the dispensation for each force.Good job my 18t is 2.896mm
Would say most 21t are over but see they move them with out notice
