at a funeral yesterday morning and saw a guy - ex-customer - who I knew very well, married to a relative of the deceased .. got chatting / catching up - not seen him since i had to pack up ... was amazed when he said he was 70 ... works 5/6 days a week still - (site welding/fab. work - not easy days) and Sundays are spent playing with his off road-ers .. came second in some area league earlier in the year ... always thought he was a few years younger than me  ... he's not changed a bit in the 30++ years I've known him:rolleyes::cool: ... was off home, after to load his toys, for a day out somewhere today (y)

I was truly shocked, when Mike said he was 70 .... he has genuinely not changed a jot, in the nigh on 40 years I have known him. Even Pam said she too was shocked ... would've put him in his mid 50s and can remember meeting him at my workshop several times over the years - he was a real regular weekly caller for materials or gas. He looked very well too

The Hitachi with the purple dipper and the R has got to be Ruttle plant
The Benati would have been a rare bird  one for @barracane

Yes I worked alongside ruttle on pipelines .That uh071 hitachi looks huge but it was about 17-18 tonne from memory . The uh081 was 20 tonne . some of the big early hitachi had hino engines before they went completely to isuzu.
I wish I took more photos in my time

Afraid I don’t know much about the photos. They came from the late Dennis Lean who was a large earthmoving contractor in the 50s 60s and 70s based in Warwickshire.
Was hoping by posting I could find out more about them myself
you should stick them on the old girls of plant hire facebook site there will be plenty of old hands that will give you info and a friendly welcome.they love old working photos there.
