Looks great Ross, how much was it for the camera set up? Been looking into a new system for the yard. Are they mains powers or battery?

The cameras are not just cameras, honestly if i mouse runs across the yard i will know i have the setup i currently have being moved across plus more cameras / sensors. I am so OCD about this. Anyhow I have a OCD camera man too so it kind of works its just not cheap however when it comes to security you cant cheap out.
I have police response

my phone will ring if any sensors trigger (inside and out)
they are very reliable and get very few alarms (false)
I can talk down to people
I can hear people (microphones)
etc
I will delete this post in the next few days just showing whats available, non of this is via a phone line.

The yard soon shrinks when you stick a full HGV in their its circa 30 meters building to building but the angled gates are a the problem. Is what it is.
Not a easy game to be in to have a yard a HGV can turn in is some going. sadly they cant reverse in, although i am going to look at ways to make this happen. as it would save me a lot of headache.
Its possible i will need to change bits but for now it will do

I also think the camera has done the yard some justice, it is a fair size but as i say spinning a artic is a problem, the skip was in the way mind you

.... had a similar system where I knew if a mouse farted in my acre yard and 10,000sq ft building .... peace of mind when you lock them gates on yer way out, is priceless, even if it does 'cost' ...... it's also very successful at catching the bastards too .... plod were always very responsive, as it usually produced a 'result' for them, which always looked good on their shift log ... a 15 minute delay on the sqawk boxes gave us all time to be there, before they had any clue, they'd already been rumbled and usually nailed them in their panic to leave

obstructions in the centre of the yard was my method of stopping 'em just scowing round and tearing up the surface, which was bloody annoying ... forcing the artics into the biggest turn circle you can is the way to keep your yard flat and devoid of lakes

On the subject of new yards after 4 years, yes four years I finally bought a plot 1/3 acre, had to shift 4,000 cube of soil to get it down to grade and I’ve layed 700 ton of crushed hardcore that came from one of my demo jobs
I’ve made a new entrance onto the main road and fitted a 11 meter sliding gate that came into the scrap yard a few years back that I saved I’ve even got a large building (that I took down from a job) to put up just need a bit of planning permission now

chuck it up and put some wheels on the stanchions

Been up doing bits getting ready for the new portacabin office on Wednesday
Firstly the enterance to the yard was at to much of a angle for the swing of a lorry, they could get in but had to shunt to get out. They are 5 meter gates but at about 45 degrees, so I took back the raised bed to the left but for now it’s far to wet to mess about with but I will take away another good load when it dries up and then add some crushed and top with planings to hopefully allow some swing
Found the foul pipe I need to stick out toilet into when the cabin comes for the first time in my existence now know why you like feedback through the joysticks you can just feel little snags which make you look, although I knew I was roughly there from the pea. Was a good guess finding it as there is no drawings etc
And finally moved about 20 tonne of planings from the middle of the yard quite conveniently with a very old benford 3 tonne dumper I took in part ex Thursday
Oh and realised the gem of a telehandlers I took in part ex was indeed a gem. 2002 bloody lovely they don’t make them like they used to
