New water connection

Yeah, I think he has bolloxed himself asking for a new house connection. He should have asked for a supply for livestock (they are farm buildings at present).
Shame it is such a closed shop - literally a licence to print money!

Is it expensive to mole a water pipe under a road? My neighbor wants a water supply to his field for livestock water trough, it's a private supply from the hill and my pipe is only one crossing the road. Rather than him using my pipe I've suggested him moleing a new pipe in nearer his trough where the old pipe that's now defunct is. But I've no idea what cost is involved for him

Depends on a couple of things. Are ground conditions favourable, how wide is road how honest is man with mole. If its single lane and ground is good for moling and a hole dug either side only be 15 min job. On the other hand bad ground or hit a big stone under road and mole diverts could be there ages.

It is an A road, as in two lane trunk road. There's approx 3ft lower at one side and level with road at other side so only 1 and a half holes to dig. It would need to go about 16 - 18 meter from one side to other. There is a mains water alongside road you'd have to watch for but phone and power are up on poles. Just depends on how well the road was built as how hard going it would be.

Its a fair stretch in one go would require being v accurate. I believe the bigger moles stay on course better but you'd need good ground at that length.

Ah so might need to be one of those directional jobbies rather than the impact mole I was thinking of?

done a few mole jobs over the years that's not a Saturday morning cash in hand job too much to go wrong me thinks

Depends on ground I've been in good ground and done some fair lengths fairly accurately. But on the other hand ended up digging nearly 3m deep at daft o clock at night with a jcb 801 looking for a mole which wouldn't reverse out

By the time the residents got hold of anyone at the council on Monday morning it was all resurfaced and like a new road

The only reason the council would actually care about that is they haven't got there wedge for the permits
In reality sewer connections on a live line are easy as long as it's not pressurised
