New Vs old 1.5t+ digger?

A few of the new ones can't have twin aux from factory.
I think Kubota u20 and Yan vio17 can't have it. Maybe kobelco sv17 As well but not 100%sure.

I've been pricing up new ones but there all £20,000 +vat with twin aux. The cheapest was a yanmar sv18 at £19,000+.
I don't have loads of work for one and at least half the jobs Im doing couldn't have anything bigger than a micro. I think it makes more sense for me to spend half the amount and fix when required.

Bobcat should be cheaper than that with twin aux. Cab or canopy?

Never buy the attachments the dealer wants you to.

You're looking at under 3k for a Tigergrip and rotator. Just been using mine on my E19. It's great, but I use the grapple as much on that size machine. They don't handle a grab and rotator that well- too much weight and stack height. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't go back to only grapple, but I tend to use the E19 with rotating grab on a quoted landscaping job for half an hour to save a days labour- for instance, pulling out sleepers and placing them on the truck. Wouldn't want to use it all day for things like site clearance, it was painful just loading the fire at the yard with it (E27 is on site). I have short dipper E19 too, no way I'd want it on a long dipper. It's more a weapon for 2.5t+

All I'm saying is, consider whether you really need one. You're IoW aren't you? You could do worse than to pop to Chichester and try before you buy.

Thanks for the offer, when i get closer to pulling the trigger on something ill pop over. I have been looking at the 2 ton plus but they look like a big old machine to drive round someone's garden.

I run an old 1.5t and it can be hard work sometimes. Something will go wrong with it every 6 months, and it doesnt do a huge amount of work for me these days, but works hard when I do use it.
Modern ones will run rings around it with their variable pumps, twin speed tracking etc. But it only cost me £6k and its probably still worth that now! (I wont count the ££££'s in parts its had since I've owned it.....
Get a tidy used one, 1000hrs on the clock, under 5 years old. Best of both worlds then. And AVOID the basic spec 015 ones - they are like going back 20 years no matter how new they are!

An 8014 will still do a decent days work though, yes they are narrow trackbasr and have an enormous arse but if you just need to dig a hole they will do it very cheaply

Crazy times there is so little stock out there its a tad worrying. Its all overpriced crap and even when we sell something I feel sad and bad . But i had said it here before, I expected a crash last year, didn't happen infact anything but, and this year i am unsure if it will happen too, this is not a financial recession at all. People have more money than they ever had, cheap loans etc. When we are rid of this virus its going to be chaos

Heck one of my lads who is part time also works part time in retail. He is furloughed at the retail store and he is working at ours full time atm. Double wages please? On Boris? I know some have had it tough but its nowhere near as many as we thought. The PM and his sidekicks have really done well in that sense.

Domestic building work is crazy busy at the mo and has been for a while (i assume it's not just v local to me although it does tend to be a bit of a bubble up here) and i can't see it changing any time soon. One thing when people can't spend on holidays and are spending a lot of time at home is they start to see all the things they could be doing to the house. Couple that with buying and moving house not being as easy and there's loads of smaller building with out there. I think the amount of potential work out there and the loans available that's why all the small gear is so in demand.

Someone pointed out that this "recession" folk are actually saving money up, once lockdown ends it's going to be one hell of kick I reckon.
Speaking to Barlow's yesterday he's got 8 trailers in stock...normally has 250plus seen em. August now for new order if u lucky.

Funny how it works sometimes my 8015 wasn't perfect or without a few niggles but credit where its due we had it 13 years and it never let us down. Other than servicing i only ever fitted one part, an ignition switch so it's one jake i can't knock. Was also a v v nice machine to use (allegedly about six months before it was built jcb had a competitors 1.5 tonner in bits at the factory but we'll not get into that)

Bit of topic but regarding furlough,how many know of those still working and claiming it.I know a few and I’ve told em it’s wrong and defrauding the government.these boys are self employed and often get paid by boss,as opposed to customers so there is a paper trail where boss pays their tax every month.I’m sure the tax man will have systems in progress to check and reclaim this money back.it’s just so wrong and it appalls me.some even had business grants and continue to work.sure it’s rife all over the uk and if people get big fines I’ll be very pleased.I’ve had two letters regarding furlough and another for a grant but declined.my digger has not been far since august but I’m still working on the farm.interesting times ahead
