Cheltenham job with very tight site was £250 per 8w grab plus vat
I agree with this! Needs stopping to make it a level playing field!Giles, Vosa need to crack down and crack the neck of the **** running the tractors in your photo.
There’s an article somewhere from jcb which states a fastrac can not be a hgv, think graham black earthmovers editor posted it. The guy I use runs white tachometer op license etc but he’s an agg contractor as well lines get blurredJust to add a different take on the whole tractor haulage debate i have heard over here that a fella has got a fastrac registered as an hgv.. all tested, o licence tacho the whole works.. along with a dump trailer and low loader trailer.. apparently both trailers and tractor have abs.. and from the grapevine i hear he is doing pretty well.. oh and not a drop of red in sight lol

Fastrac as far as i know can be tested as an hgv providing it has abs braking and as its one of only a handful of tractors that are sprung all round and have a steering box and lorry spec brakes.. I'm not honestly sure if there are maybe wee differences over here compared to the mainland.. can of worms but that fella over here has it all by the book

We farm aswell - tractors for field wagons for the road, everything's got its own jobI've a pair of tractors that cost me over £100k each, the last thing I want to do is drag a trailer full of muck about on the road with them, the tyres on each cost towards £10k for a set and the savings on red at 4mpg aren't worth s**t.
but teach him to spellYou should have that written across the counterweight, could become a company motto....![]()

Anyroad 8 wheeler grab is £135 here,we really need to lift prices but the lads on the fiddle keep the price down.[/QUOTE
Bloody hell must be getting tipped 100 yds away!
Exactly this - I can’t see how running a tractor on the road for haulage is cheaper than a wagon if you are taking all costs into account. It might be a nice little foreigner using the farm’s machinery/fuel/tyres for the odd little job but that’s not a realistic way of operating.
Where do you guys get these 8 wheeler grabs for under £200??!!
No operators license/mot/cpc/hgv license/tacho etc has got to reduce costs compared to lorry.
