Mini with big hours

My little Volvo ec18c has just turned 3000 hours
It’s been repinned and bushed and still going really well .
I know minis aren’t expected to do the same hours as a bigger track machine and I wondered what is the expectation hours wise and also what hours have you managed on a mini ?

I'm sure there was someone ( @Thomas7740?) Who had an ex30 with mega hours. 14k I recall...
Highest I've known personally was a chap with a 3 ton Kubota can't remember which model but was at 12k hrs.
Mine get a hard life so the last one I sold was at 5500hrs, not a great deal wrong with it but was starting to burn oil and slew was starting to get a bit notchy.
Current one is at 3900 and reckon it will do twice that cos I've looked after it this time.

What engine was in the ex30?
I’m assuming the kubota ran their own engine !

Drive one at 100 hours vs one at 2k hours, you'll notice the difference. Drive one a 2k hours and one a 4k hours. You'll not notice the difference.

My mate ran all his kx36-3 and k008-3 to around 4000 hours on a self drive fleet. With very few issues.

5000hrs I think is a good cut off point really for someone who relies on their machine on a more or less daily basis. It's not mega hours to put off the resale. It could well do several thousand more with not too many dramas. But the likelihood of failing track motors, slew parts etc, the costly stuff goes up. IME any of the decent brands and a sympathetic owner operator should get more or less trouble free operating for the first 5k hours except perhaps replacing tracks, and other wear parts.

Yea it was me, it left us with basically 14k hours, think it was 13,890 or something. The 30-2 have a Kubota V1505 engine, the -1 had an Isuzu.

Been a simple life since it left, just add fuel and grease. No oil leaks, no burst pipes, no over heating etc etc

Looking to try and change it shortly, at about 2 years / 2000 hours. Depending on figures we may go 3yr/3000 hours, just want to keep on warranty. I think as minis start and go over 5000 hours that’s when they get most problems, hoping that by trading at 2-3000 hours, it won’t take too much to go new and hopefully get a decent trade in price as someone should see it as a machine they will get another 2-3000 hours out of without much bother.

What’s the highest hours you ve seen on hire machines.I’ve had jewson hire machines I use that seem pretty well worn at a couple of hundred hours, and I don’t know how hitches get so knackered either at low hours.

When I started out I bought a few at the 5000hrs - which as has been mentioned seems to be the get rid point, so it obviously makes them cheaper but at the same time you feel like your taking a punt, it was what I could afford and to be honest had decent success running them up to around 7500hrs before moving them on and doing o.k , it was probably the cheapest digging I've ever done.
Then recently I've looked to buy in the 2.5k - 3k hours region, imo a machine that was best part of £60k new represents good value at about £30k and 3000hrs , then aim to run them for another 3000hrs and get say £23k back.

I think the bigger you go the more it stacks up buying used. 3t and below hold their money like crazy so not so much to be gained from used for a contractor?
That said. My TB125 I bought at £14000 6 years ago had done 1000hrs.ive now taken it to 4000hrs but probably still worth £12k. Very cheap diggering😁
