Richard Smalley once said that steep slope working & long reach were not viable in same machine, so guess the long boom for flat work areas.
His model 10 had manual rear legs & hydraulic jacking, front legs a combination of manual & optional hyd fine adjust to prevent rocking, He did do a steep slope build of it.
