Your thinking along the same lines as me Dave .
I’ve got hgv so I can go this lorry but I need an operators license to work with it from home . In order to get that I need the commissioners to confirm I can do that . I have a bit of space in my wee yard so I’m hoping this will be good enough. I don’t do any hire or reward work so restricted operators should be fine .
I could then run a five tonne excavator to my own sites and also haul gravel to sites for my price work . I don’t have a class 1 so I couldn’t tow a decent trailer with it but I think it’s still a really good option without towing ability

Apply for a vehicle operator licence

Apply and pay for a HGV, PSV or interim operator licence (O licence) if you use vehicles to transport goods or passengers.

Forms are there, you need to advertise in a local paper about the operating center (around £500), provide financial evidence (restricted £3100 for first vehicle and £1700 for each extra slot on the licence, standard national is more), and a maintenance agreement (depends on local labour rate £80-150 per inspection), you can do it yourselves with the right experience and facilities. Restricted you won't need a nominated transport manager.

I didn’t get that far with them as I needed to get off the phone before I started reeling off the credit card numbers . I would imagine so as they’ve owned it from new . The bought it as a chassis cab and then had the gear fitted

Cant help you re paperwork but i can with the concept.
I run 19t merc version although ive only done 10k with it it seems very solid.
and completely changes the way you work , for the better 👌 makes everything easy , don't like the over used phrase "game changer" but this def is.

Some lads on here are much more savvy than me but not much to check hook wise afaic just the usual wear etc and make sure it tips to a decent angle as the overhang can limit that.

Back door could be a pita to load machines on if it's not barn door type for obvious reasons, but handier for tipping.

One owner since new 🤷 get it bought 👍

Difficult to check, but try and check the adblue system is working fine and not bypassed if it's been bypassed because of faults as well as you getting in hot water with the DVSA/TC it will cost to put right, the longer it's not been working the more components fail with crystallization of the stuff.
I think the some mercs inject the adblue nearer the engine, and can leak in that area, easily spotted by white crystalizing.
With low km`s it should be fine, but check the hook, and its tower for wear, and cracks.

Fingers crossed they are time wasters.

Should be marked with unlaiden weight somewhere, or if not on the paperwork relating to the build, then figure in the skip ...prob 700-800kg on that as mines 1t.

Better still take it on a run and put it on weigh bridge at same time.

Very rare for lorries to have unladen weight written on them.
Top number is lorry max
Second number down is lorry and trailer max ( being 28t it should have a bigger engine fitted a long with more gears and low geared axle all a benefit)
The two other numbers are axles.
If it's in the cab have a flick through the defect sheet and ask if you can see the 6 weekly check sheets. It doesn't matter if there have been faults but if the same fault comes up repeatedly it shows a lack of maintenance. The same goes for the daily defect book. .
Check it has difflock. Some don't. It's not the end of the world but you can push your luck a lot more if you have one fitted.
And I haven't read the full as but check the bin comes with it as some sellers are cheeky and want extra for the bin

There's no requirement to have the unladen weight shown here, other countries yes.
There may be old tickets in the cab with the weight on, looks like the owner is selling it not a dealer, so should be able to tell you, they may even have a weighbridge.
