Is there a table anywhere that shows roughly what strength chains you need?
i.e 6 tonner 4x
13 tonner 4 x …..
21 tonner 6x …. Sort of thing

just out of interest really.

making machines look small since 1980
didn't see a lot of gunnebo stuff when i was inspecting lifting gear for a living but what you did see was always in good nick and always seemed to be used by the higher end user. 99% of the groundworkers would use william hackett for there gear and it would get trashed in less then 6 months. I think the record was 4 days for a piling company we used to deal with bought it brand new on the monday was back in for a new hook late friday.

Piling companies are a different type of feral.
Doing piling attendance it isn't uncommon for the gangs to want to leave the droplink on the machine as they couldn't be bothered to take it off each time.
So scraping up slurry and sealing the matt all with the hook dragging in the mire

Seem to remember Druid rabbiting on about Gunnebo stuff? Certainly seen a few folk recommending them elsewhere.

Saw something this week that made me think, Why bother with a low loader. I was taking a counterweight off a machine with the Valla when a Transit with wooden drop side pulled up the other side of the fence. T’was one of our non-permanent home dwelling brethren, and he got out and asked if I could do him a massive favour and turn his load round. When I looked it was three Tonnes of aisle picker, sitting right over one side of the deck. How he’d got round the corner without tipping or busting his suspension I don’t know. Apparently his mate had loaded him in a rush. He left in a bit of a temper when he found out shouting and repeating himself didn’t cut any ice, but unfortunately I didn’t have my camera handy. My mate said we’d probably lose all of the batteries in the next day or two.
