Spun my dads old LWB van on the cat and fiddle once.. missed everything including the oncoming Arclid transport tanker , had to pull over for a moment to take it all in..I took a transit chassis cab to have skip gear fittedfirst junction soon had me turn around and strap an ibc full of water on the back

Might be some truth in the crash testing story but I bet British Leyland didn't ever let slip how they designed their first "safety cab"Cor ! , truck magazine, used to get that along with power farming when I was still at school
Remember the articles about the Swedish BroWreckers and the oil field tractors going through the railway arches in Chippenham on the way for rebuild in Tetbury ☺
Also remember reading about the far fetched suggestion that British Leyland trucks where getting the government of the time to squeeze out the small volume builders by introducing stringent crash testing..... did get wiser and more sceptical in time

Bedford rascal pickup had no equal.Used to work at a daihatsu and the hijet pickups had rear drive with a 1.3 petrol engine
Made for interesting driving in the wet with no weight on the rear as the 12" tyres you could only get for them were quite a hard compound
The perfect trailer does exist
