very true Rory .... came off the Le Havre to Portsmouth ferry in Sept., 1990 after the worst crossing I ever experienced ... When I got on in Le Havre there were vehicles coming off smashed to bits - caravans with holes in the sides, bent dented wings on cars ... trucks were fine .. chained down, but the cars never are ... on a bike they give you tie downs and you're responsible for your own security ... I never lost one ... I was the only one in the cafeteria in the morning ... having a full English
