Can't have divisible on STGO afaik ? @JD450A will confirm
should in theory be on two separate transports (and probably too bloody heavy anyway) it is possible to deliver two items on one trip, if collecting from and going to the same locations ... pretty stringent criteria though

It's along time since I chained down machines on low loader, is this correct I thought you would chain to the carriage

Well you shouldn’t strap over the rubber tracks like they have done on the 86..

Obviously back when I was chaining stuff down, long time ago. It was chained over the tracks, worse idea than these have done

what a w⚓ :mad::mad:
had to reverse half a mile yesterday when I met a JD coming at me in our lane with some sort of implement on the back, a good 4m wide - totally filled the lane .. should've had an escort, very minimum - better still towed in line with the traccy -- totally ridiculous width on any road :mad: ... would need a movement order, markers and full escort if it was anyone else :rolleyes:
see him again this morning out on the A465 -- totally filled his lane and over the centre white line

Since this is a haulage thread, I thought I'd ask the resident truckers what I think is a sensible question. I'm just considering buying a trailer and can't make my mind up between a stepframe platform (flat) trailer vs a stepframe low loader (machinery carrier). I move a variety of machines from tracked excavators to wheeled tractors. Maybe even the odd car/camper or whatever comes my way. Also moving hay and straw as back loads. As it would be my first trailer I can't make my mind up which to go for? One obviously heavier than the other although Im not sure tonnage wise just how much heavier. Would a heavier built trailer be better as an alrounder covering all bases vs a lighter trailer not suited to heavy machines. What fuel consumption difference am I likely to expect between towing a stepframe flat trailer vs the stepframe lowloader?

Looking back it looks like several questions, but I'm unsure which way to go to cover all bases.

Thank you for any input you can offer. I'm a new operator and have finally got the tractor unit how I want it, now seeking a trailer instead of hiring, it's killing the job as I'm not out everyday in the truck.
