eddison plant hire started out as a steam ploughing company in a local village martinstown dorset then moved over to steam road rollers, they had a big steam works in dorchester and thomas hardy the miserable nimby moaned about the loud steam whistle they used to call the workers in the mornings. there is a book a century of service that tells their story an interesting read i thought. my stepson was the last apprentice that eddison as a company took on.
