Hey, new join here. Plant mechanic by trade but family business was building so grew up in and around all of that. I operate diggers, dumpers and telehandlers and also bank cranes.
Pre lockdown this past Friday, I started on site on an 8T cat levelling the site and did that for about three months. Stayed on same site as a banksman for the tower crane and when we return to site after all this, will have another month banking and should get a 360 telehandler as the crane will be going.
So yeah, I do a bit of everything. Dublin has good standard rates of €18.86 for operators (that’s direct employment/via an agency) and a huge shortage of people. I’m just cashing in on the boom up there for the last year and hope to get another couple of years out of it. Will be glad to get back on a excavator after the banking and teleporter.
During this break I’m busy helping my brothers with landscaping and paving and random jobs for ourselves.
