I used "their" insurance once.
Read the insurance.....covered the used value of the machine only .......
.. Read the hire contract which required the machine to be covered new for old at recommended retail plus loss of hire until replacement in fleet 😡
Yeah exactly. Wouldn't trust their insurance at all. Reckon you'd be over a barrel if s**t hits the fan.

Left a High tip dumper on site once. It was brand new. It broke down on the afternoon on way to the storage container we had hired,so we called it in and the fitter arrived at 4pm.
He threw a hissy fit and spent 10 mins on site then said fcuk it im going home..
We called the hire firm and they said leave it where it was and they would get it sorted..
Next morning the tyres were slashed, every wire was cut, top of engine smashed up with concrete block
and the tanks& engine filled with kiln dried sand..
They sent us a bill for a written off machine with 10 hrs on the clock.
It got settled months later after loads of expensive legal letters. They denied the fitter visit or any phone calls..WANKERS!!
Housing estate in tottenham, who'd of guessed that would happen...

Guy on Facebook found that out the hard way, I'm sure the story was, it was stolen and as he didn't take out the insurance they were chasing him for 17k or so, no idea on the outcome though
That’s a hard lesson to learn if he had to find £17k

Fair!
I’ve just cancelled with jcb as it’s taken them 4 days to return my call regarding changing my policy/adding more kit onto it!! New company is same price but all risks - JCB was fire and theft only!! 20 years I’ve been with them..

Local chap to us had a brand new defender out on demo from local LR garage. He wrote it off completely and badly injured himself as well. Pushed his leg bone out through his ass cheek. Limps a bit now.
He assumed it was insured with dealer. It wasn’t . Someone lost about £20k that day.

My insurance broker once quoted "Assume nothing, question everything.”

That's my mantra on insurance now.
Biggest bunch of conniving get outta anything hide between small prints ripoff merchants that exists imo. As druid would often say in the old days they'd wear a mask.🤬

I hate them with a passion.

Legalised robbery and dictatorship. Did I say I hate them.

I’ve had afew on demo from LR, normally a £10 fee for full cover.. or was the option to just pay a 1k excess

Once had a brand new D5 HSE Luxury for 5 weeks when one of ours was in...went up the end of a stonewall in lakes in the dark tired...luckily was a bit of a ramp how it never rolled I'll never know ...anything else it would have ripped front wheel off . Came down hard on rear sill...let's just say they obviously never looked underneath when it went back...😬🤐

any garage that doesn't fully insure a demo is a cowboy -- as a customer taking a vehicle out on demo, it's more than reasonable to expect their cover whilst at the wheel, other wise they should take you out as a passenger - simples
