I’m looking to buy a new micro excavator and have narrowed it down to the Kubota U10-5 and Yanmar ViO12-2A.

Has anyone owned or operated both? Interested to hear how they compare in real-world digging performance, hydraulics, reliability and overall build quality.

The Yanmar looks stronger on paper, but I’m wondering if there’s much noticeable difference in everyday use. Also interested in which would be the better machine to keep long-term.

Any opinions or experiences appreciated.

What work do you intend to do with the machine ? How long do you intend to keep it ?

Bobcat E10Z. Folds up to 710mm width makes a surprising difference over the others which I think are all 50 - 120 mm wider?

I think the most important thing with a micro is size, and as long as your not using a Chinese made piece of crap i don't think brand matters all that much. I've got a jcb8010 which is 700mm wide and there are jobs where another 10mm would have stopped me getting in.... although I could understand why you might go for something a bit more modern with joysticks. Bobcat e10z is probably the most popular
