Kubota Kx71-3 Starter Motor Issue

I have had an intermittent starting problem. When the digger is left for a couple of days the starter just wants to click. It will do that a few times then turn over and fire up. I was away last week and when I tried to fire her up yesterday it would not have it. I decided to pull the seat forward and using the access panel and a hammer, a few taps later she fired up. This morning 2 clicks then off she went. When she has started she is normally no problem for the rest of day.

My question is.........has anyone removed the starter on one of these? It looks like a right pig to get it out! So any tips would be gratefully received!

I can though say my other half’s car did the same it was slow to start all the time unless it had been started a bit before. New starter and boom back in the game like a new car

I would normally whip a motor off and down to the man that can who refurbs motors for a check and overhaul. It just looks such a pig to get it out that I am thinking there must be something I am missing!!

voltage drop,if it has a multi plug check and clean that first

Got the seat out and starter off. £35 later at my local starter man has the solenoid refurbed. Slightly trickier to get it back on but not as bad a job as I had feared. Cost me £150 to hire in replacement digger so my own fault for not dealing with sooner!

Glad you got it sorted. Was reading down thread with intention of saying, bite bullet and get it off as its giving you warning.
Usually its a couple of clicks, starts and next time its "stuffed" usually when you need it the most.

It did of course fail at the most on convent time. It was on the trailer which had a puncture. Wanted to get the digger off to take the trailer in for new tyres. It had been intermittent for a while. But when it failed to engage, it would go after another turn of the key!
