Cat can't be said to be any better with the current well documented dealer issues.

I've the arse with the new stuff..... was told last week that a 2010 Takeuchi 4t machine at 4000hrs ish is worth around 10k top's trade in..... Not sure how accurate that is but I've got one lined up for me if there that fkn cheap.

Probably not far off trade in value if you factor in few pins and bushes, tracks and bit of profit for stealer.

New that's a 40k machine at least.... so loosing 3k a year or £7.50 a hour in it's first 10 years. I know exactly where my money is sat If I choose to go down that route (it's the largest machine I can possibly fit on a skip lorry).

I know the man that owns it is no fool, and simply put that machine has earned approximately £300 a week for him 50% of the year which is a healthy profit..... But for a owner operator on day works a new machine hardly makes sense considering it's rate as a 4 tonner would be somewhere around the £35hr mark.

Unless you've got specific jobs for it wouldn't be choice. Fr's cramped cab and slow imho. Lot of wear to suffer from with those kingpost links

Largest that will fit, bar a old school kubota KX 5 tonner.... everything else is too wide on the trackframe.

Only suffer if not looked after properly, can't say I've found em any slower than anything else, good machines particularly on foot way/road jobs which ultimately is the staple of my small stuff..

I find 235/240 much better all rounder. End of the day at that age and price condition is as important as owt else. If its been looked after its a good start.

I'd agree at 12-13k..... you know from there on out does make you wonder on the second bit, but as you know i'm a wilie fucker and tend to know what's occurring behind scenes

Depends where the 10k value is from. If its from asking about a trade in deal its up to dealer as to whether they knock money off the new machine or add it to the trade in to get the cost to change down. Ultimately its better tax wise to get less for your trade in as most businesses will have claimed max allowance on it so will actually owe tax back when selling it.

Only last night I was looking at the Kato dumpers

Must admit the price of the tracked barrow was intriguing

How much was the JCB then?
I would like a new one but at £7000-10,000 I might as well put a new engine in my one.
Also nothing seams as well designed as the TCP.
I've seen a Jansen at a local plant dealer but on close inspection it looks like cheap Chinese shite. The Kato looks interesting with 5year warranty and expanding tracks although a little wide on minimum. Shame they are no more. The small diggers looked a bit lacking compared to the e10

from what I've read, they're well respected m/cs ....
crane wise, Kato is one of the most oil tight machines out there and long lived ... except for panel work which was diabolically thin on earlier machines ... make a hell of a nice crane ... if their diggers are as good'd be tidy tools ... have heard lots of good comments about their older excavators

I saw a brand new Kato in my local John Deere dealer in Norwich today,guess about 2.5/3 ton zero tail swing.coukd not see them taking them on when already hitachi dealers.
