took advantage of the silly hire prices from jewson and had the jcb 1.5 tonner and jcb 1 ton high tip dumper dropped for a week.

The digger is just woefull. pipes hanging all over the place in the undercarriage, a double dead mans switch. Why not 5 ? The kingpost seems to be an inch too far to the centre and the seat an inch too far to the right in order that you cant see the bucket without moving your head. Not enough power, im sure the little kubota micro has more power.

As for the dumper, 2021 model. It has no footbrake at all. Every time you put it into forward with the selector it blasts the horn twice, by 9:30 neighbours were round asking us to stop taking the piss. Gave them JCB's number. Wont start unless the seatbelt is plugged in and it 'knows' if you just plug the belt in without pulling enough out and wont start which is great when they come with auto fall over at the slightest sign of a hump.

Will be glad to see the back of this yellow pile of shite at the end of the week!!

brother in law hired a 16c-1 to put a small sewage treatment plant in on a job he was doing asked if i would help him out. i told him i did not think it would dig deep enough as the bottom of the hole needed to be over eight ft deep. well it managed to do it fairly comfortably i did not like being so close to the edge of the hole though. it was powerfull enough and with a toothed bucket dug the chalk easy enough, it went through a narrow gate to get in the garden, then the tracks could be expanded, overall it surprised me a lot and wasnt to bad a machine to drive, the reach was better than i expected and it was good on fuel, sure he hired it from jewsons did some foundations and a fair sized drainage field for the sewage and no breakdowns at all the deadman and the switch was a big pain in the arris and i could not get on well with that i kept forgeting the switch.

Anyone used these JCB micros long-term? I’ve heard so many different opinions but I’m never sure whether in general people expect too much from sub 1-tonners. I’d like to support British next time round but not if it’s not Up to the job.

Trouble is with micros most are pushing ton and a quarter in weight now rather than 3/4 ton. It's why I've no intention of replacing my tb108, ok it might not quite have the power or lifting capacity of the newer micros but when you're in a tight spot and need to get into somewhere up a couple of planks and a couple of blocks you can do it. You can't compare those which are true micros (well under a ton) and those which are nearer to a 1.5 tonner.

Is the 108 or 106 the equivalent of my K008? I had a look at a takki before I bought the Kub, but it was £2500 more and hadn’t had thruppence worth of grease through it in years. Got to say that it did drive better than the Kub though, on first impressions. I’d like to try a new one.

tb108 on paper is more powerful than the bobcat/doosan.
lifts a good 200mm plus higher too.
mine was excellent but was starting to show its age so it went, it was bittersweet as the dx10 only does a few bits better and is worse on other bits.
it werent ideal but with the tb108 i could move a full bulk bag of gravel, it wasnt pretty but doable, not so much with the dx10, not sure if its due to the lift heigh of the boom or not but it wont even drag one. dx10 digs deeper and its zero tail swing but the tb108 can boom 90 left and right and is narrower so can get into some places that the dx10 cant plus it has a higher tip height

108 and the 107 are equivalent to the k008 and the yanmar sv08 plus the jcb 8008

Must admit the loading height on the e10/dx10 is major bollock dropped by them imo, barely high enough for anything other than a wheelbarrow yet a tb108 admittedly not pretty can load a 6 ton swivel dumper.

one of my regrets is not going for the tb210r but with it still being on 25mm bucket pins, still left the same issue of not being able to get any attachments from hire places as local places only kept 30mm pinned to suit their stock of hire kit. the tb210 lifts a good 300mm higher than the e10/dx10

Those Hyundai minis are fantastically smooth, it has to be said. One of the best machines for grading that I've driven. I do miss mine. Well, I miss the times that it hadn't had something drop off it at least.

What could you hire for a micro anyway, realistically?

You could always use a mix and match hitch, but micro attachments are so cheap you may as well buy them IMHO.

So arrive site today and the yellow turd of a dumper with 41 hours on the clock wouldn't start. All sorts of beeps and alarms but no sign of starting. Jewsons came out and said 'not another' . The 4 hour JCB response was awesome though, Jewson's called at them 8:15 and no sign of them when we left at 5.

Found another well engineered feature on the digger, fair play to the JCB engineers for putting the thought in and getting it just right. The ignition key is set at just the right angle so when the key is in, it constantly jabs you in the thigh.

And people actually buy this shite, amazing!
