I guess you have to make quite a few compromises at this price. They could have used a Honda petrol to make it cheaper (?) and certainly quieter

Back to yesterday’s first job today. It’s amazing how useful a ripper is on a micro.

I think we're all in agreement the 8008 is s**t. But it was designed and first made 15ish years ago and I don't think they have changed one bit. Just like the Yanmar, its outdated. Actually, all manufacturers apart from Bobcat, Kebelco and Takuchi are in dire need of updating their micros. Kubota are dog slow at revising their machines, but when they do it's usually up there with the best (except their 8t model which I just cant get on with)
Be interesting to see what JCB do when they eventually update it. Their usually pretty good at moving things forward in terms of design.

I think the 8008 was always a fleet buyers option. Never going to satisfy an owner driver with that.

8012 is the owner drivers equivalent. I must say we do hire one and it's not a bad beast at all Bigger engine and abit more weight.
Trouble is when we have a Micro it's normally so i can drop it in a hole with the TB175.... whilst it's possible to lift about 3t in close (Like with blade force and all) the reality is 1t is about the limit for safely lowering a machine... so atm we are stuck with either a Hired in Yanmar or TB108....

Tried it today and just stalls the engine.
The problem with the JCB micros is considering they are an old design they are priced higher than the competition or atleast the rrp is

Been to the local dealers on the island. Wacker nuson 803 is £12,750+ and yanmar svo8 is £11,600+. Neither offer 0% and both are on sticks and both only expand to 800 odd wide. I'm still liking the idea of the bobcat but I'll wait for the finance quote on those 2. Do these micro diggers break often, within the warranty? The reason I ask is it's about £100-200 for ferry and half a day to get to the nearest bobcat dealer.
Also has anyone used a yanmar vio12? That looks a bit more on par with the e10

Don't complain - suggest what's better
You can’t beat the service from Tom at Exc@v8, always goes the extra mile, but the Isle of Wight is a long way from his base and the ferry, especially in the summer is a lot of hassle.
