All I've ever known is 50 50 mix regardless.
And blue been 2 years and red been 5 years change.

That’s the recommendation for just about everything these days, but it wasn’t always the case. Years ago they recommended 25-30% all year round in this country, but then the recommendation was to change it every year.
You can get an additive to extend the life of antifreeze. Generally antifreeze gets stronger over time as water evaporates out of it. We use Cat premixed ELC. I strength check it out of the barrel to make sure it’s 50% and usually after two-three years it’s up around 55%, as long as nobody’s topped it up with water. I’ve seen it get up to 60% in some applications.

How many folk even change coolant? Same goes for hydraulic oil.. I’m pretty rigid with them both, but still skip the odd year when it looks alright still

Tbh if changes are done early in the life of a machine, delaying them a bit later isn’t such a big deal. One good use of money is fluid sampling. Tells you a lot about a component or system. In Some Cat machines using Cat Hydo Advanced in the hydraulics, you can double permitted change intervals if you’re testing every 500 hrs. Works out quite a saving. The sample will let you know if you need an early change.
