I think the £800 replacement, if it’s new, is fair enough, considering the price of an OE item. I know it’s a lot of money to throw at an old machine, but it’s no good to anyone if it’s broken down and it’s probably earned a few quid in its life, so you can’t begrudge it needing a bit of investment.

800 quid or scrap ,go buy another machine for 800 quid ? i know its a lot of cash but you will miss the machine

Yeah can't grumble at £800 for it, and its stuck in the middle of nowhere which means a nightmare to scrap it anyway. Apart from the tracks being shot and the instrumentation not working its an able machine and very stingy on fuel.
Paid 6k for it four years ago to clear house site and dig prob 2000 tonne of material out of hill to give site level footing. Put in 700m of drain through fractured granite and it didn't miss a beat even though revs where just at tick over (manual throttle cable had snapped and brother thought it was just set at working revs when digging with it). Would definitely miss it as cleared Gorse with wheeled digger 2 years ago with land rake and reckon this thing would do in a day what the wheel digger did in a week. Was going to change it at some point but would only really do about 100 hrs a year work so doesn't lend to tying up 30 k plus on a replacement which heart says yes and head says no.
Can never have enough diggers and each size has it plus and minus points but for me this is a great size digger that has plenty digging power with out being too heavy and clumsy.

Oh and pressure wash out the other rads while it's out as fine oil mist from cooler gets in the other rads and will clog them up with dust sticking to oil

Yes that was a planned job, will need to rig drain jetter onto tractor to do it, or may get compressor and WD 40 but will need to remove oil film whatever i do from engine radiator core.

Get some water soluble degreaser, and give the rad a good soaking with it and leave it there for a while, it should wash out nice and clean, without too much pressure then.

yeah, Gunk or Jizer ... or some neat TFR is pretty good

Just to update, ended up with cooler from G & M radiators as recommended by left hooker. Came in at £635 so can’t grumble.
New cooler fits like a dream and won’t have to undo mounting plate should it have to come out again.
Only head scratcher was 1 3/8” hose used between fixed pipe work and cooler hook up. Nobody sticks it so ordered in JCB hoses to find they supply 1 1/4” hose. At £74 each from JCB I expected it to be right size so they were sent back and alternative hose sourced at less than £150 per metre.for
