JCB 8014 hydraulics not engaging

Hi I have a JCB 8014 which is approx 13years old, it starts great but last week the hydraulics will not engage and it now starts with the arm rest down.
Someone said there is an isolator in the arm, any ideas how to check it and if need be change it?
I have looked at the manuals but there is no mention of isolators or any shown on wiring diagrams?

pretty sure there was someone else recently with a similar problem .. the 'isolator' is a switch which disengages the 'upper's' servo hydraulics via a solenoid valve in the servo's circuit to prevent accidental operation of any of the servo controlled motions. The blade should still operate along with the tracking as they are not servo controlled.
raise and lower the arm with the engine off and you should hear a small click at the back end of the arm.
that'll give you a reasonable idea where to look ...
the solenoid valve is buried in the engine bay .. so start at the easiest point to access and check to see if that is operating correctly (making a circuit when the arm is lowered)
do you have voltage to the switch?
is the switch operating correctly and allowing thta voltage 'through' the switch?

not saying your issue is as complex .. could be a faulty deadman switch or a broken wire / dirty connection hopefully

I'd suspect a broken micro switch in the armrest or more likely somethings come loose and it's no longer pressing on the switch. Start pulling panels off the armrest and have a good look round.

Then I'd disconnect the switch and check for voltage and check for continuity through the switch

I seem to remember they aren't a micro switch on these machines but a proximity switch or magnet operated switch quite near the front of the armrest and easily visible without removing panels

No idea how it's switched on your jcb but the under arm switch on my 23r Takeuchi has a push rod type switch. The rod had snapped, managed to 'fix' it with an m16 nut and bolt so I can carry on. New ones aren't a lot.
Hopefully yours will be something similarly simple 👍

can't recall looking at what's in my 8015, but sounds to me like a Burgess micro switch clicking on each dead man lever as you engage/disengage (dead-man on both arms)

On a 2012 8014 I think it's a little punger switch under the lever pod for the dead man switch. Similar to what you used to get on car doors for the interior light.

I'm also assuming that's it's just abit too old to have to 2 touch to go deadman set up.

ten years younger than mine, so could well be right Alex
I have a lever (with the red end) on both sides .. right arm doesn't lift though - the lever both operates the dead man switch with the slightest of movements and lifts the arm .. the left one is similarly sensitive - slightest of movement kills the servo circuits ... usually leave it ever so slightly up, 'til the switch clicks, (but looks to be engaged) ;):giggle:

Microswitch stuck in open position potentially. Check at the base of the armrest for the switch and report back with pictures and we can advise further.

That grab looks like the jb one I bought last year.

Cheers guys for all your thoughts, I have just changed the magnetic switch under the arm rest, but still no hydraulics. still starts with arm down.
Going to try to follow the cables to whatever they go to

I'm prity sure the 8014/6/8 start with the arm up or down.

Does the tracks and blade work? Offset slew and aux pedal?

my 8015 will start with the arm up or down, but obviously - no servo services with it up

Hi nothing works and it did not start with the arm down, I am assuming that there is some sort of cut off on the servo!
did check all the fuses they are good. On all the manuals there is no mention of a servo cut out.

Valve 1A is your servo cut off. If this doesn't get 12v it won't activate your controls with the exception of tracking and blade if I'm not mistaken. Do any of those functions work? If nothing works then you need to be looking at the pump drive coupling.

suggest you have a good read of that thread ... as JD said check all non serco functions are working - if they're not then follow his advice and make sure the pumps are getting driven
