JCB 8010 adding bi-directional valve

Hello from the states. I’ve bought a 2004 jcb 8010 that came factory with only single acting auxiliaries. I’d like to add bi-directional flow to this machine for a tilting bucket. I’ve been in communication with jcb about replacing the single acting valve section with a double acting, with no luck, they say the older machines that wasn’t an option. Has anyone here successfully added this feature to an older 8008/8010?

As a backup plan, does anyone know where I could source a secondhand complete valve block for a newer 8010 ? Possibly off a salvage machine?

Any help is appreciated!

Hi Abraham
On a machine that age I’m sure that there will be a more cost effective solution than adding a complete valve block . That’s an awful lot of work just to add a tilting bucket . I’m sure someone like @V8Druid will be able to advise on an easier way to do this .

I would imagine that the main Valve block has the ability to go both ways.
It's probably only blanked off.

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
my 8015 has the slice blanked on the one side for the breaker circit ... not gotten around to plumbing it for two way but do-able, or as Doobin says - 6x2 diverter on the offset circuit'll give you a two way / double acting service piped down the boom, with an either /or function for the offset or tilt bucket - cheapest way'd be to replumb the breaker slice

I have the complete 10 valve block at a reputable hydraulic shop, torn down on the bench. The second aux port on the aux valve was capped from the factory, but he is saying that that valve is cast and bored in such a way that it cannot be converted into bi-directional flow.

Any chance you would have the serial for your machine so I could reference it for parts?
I can try to find the serial number, I sold it around 15 years ago, I do have a 2010 8010 currently but I believe there was some changes from 04 to around 2007 models.

H'm, I wonder if my 8018 is the same. Someone welded on an after market hydraulic thumb but the thumb is not installed. The foot pedal had the stops adjusted so pedal would only move one way and the aux lines are different sizes. Could a double acting cetops valve not be added after the main valve body? Engage the aux circuit and let the cetops handle the reversing

Are you sure what you are being told is correct?

My machine had a blanking plug in one auxiliary port. I took it out and piped it up and it’s works fine. One word of caution - the threads are a metric size. I think it’s M20 but not absolutely certain.

Anything’s possible, but I’ve taken lots of things to him over the years with great success. Are you referring to an 8010 ?
