Some time ago i asked about the removal of a layer of material off a concrete floor. I can't find the thread now😣.
Anyway we got the job and I've had a bit of a go. Had to use the pecker to scrape/hammer the stuff up. It did it but a slow process. I think whats needed is a tarmac chisel, or something fabricated about 6" wide.

You won't be able to fabricate (read- weld) anything that will put up with being run for long under a pecker.

We had this discussion with the post banger thread.

If it's a kind of floor coating, there are special sprung steel type blades that fit specialist hammers for this sort of work. You'd be hard pressed to find one to fit a digger though.

How thick is the coating? Would bashing it with an elephants foot tamper steel fracture it enough to rake it all clear of the concrete with the bucket teeth?

The jack hammer does it ok, just slow. The digger is only 1.4 t. So not man enough. The blade works ok in places where its not stuck to bad. Its an old buss depot i think.

:LOL: ... can't see that happening Dylan;) ........ more likely to end up in the useful links thread, i'd have thought (y)

a.n.other thought .... have you got one you could take to a 'proper' blacksmith and get them to draw out a spade end on it for you ? Wanna be someone with a drop hammer though .... take some drawing out by hand

A mate of mine, welds a short length of cutting edge onto a removable tooth that's fits his ripper tooth when they want a bridge deck stripping back. That's stripping tarmac, and on his duck, usually a piece of cutting edge about 9-12 inches iirc, some thing scaled down to your machine size might work?

My machine isn t heavy/big enough. The blade on machine work ok when its not stuck down to bad, especially when the pecker is out front for added ballast
