do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
you mean a Hydrema - crack the chassis round and fill yer front bucketIf you had bought one of those Huddig back hoes you could load your OWN front mounted pan mixer![]()

Didn't @Gunners try 1 on a demo machine or was that a 3cx?
Would love a week on that!! The whole. Backhoe/tilty thing has never really taken off though..
Think he said it was heavy on thereWould love a week on that!! The whole. Backhoe/tilty thing has never really taken off though..
1 of course it's the millionthOut of interest Ollie, do you know how many millionth 4cx there is out in the wild/on order?
No, I did ask JCB but they seemed vague on numbers. I was kinda hoping they would be numbered like the Jubilee machines were, but sadly not. I was told around 150 millionth machines were being made with some going to the states. I'd image there will be more 3cx than 4cx so maybe less than 50 millionth 4cx's for the world? Certainly not many groundworker pro millionth's out there and only one made to my spec so I'm told.Out of interest Ollie, do you know how many millionth 4cx there is out in the wild/on order?
Other than a plaque the specials have only ever been a standard with full options. No, I did ask JCB but they seemed vague on numbers. You seen they have released an 80th special edition now too. These specials are becoming a bit too common for my liking![]()
I quite like the 80th edition..... It's the right colour not to have to look at it as itt depreciates![]()
wonder if the black'll peel in sheets like the yellow does
I hope it works out for you mate. It would be a beast of a mixer bucket on that- surely far overkill for the little jobs that weren't worth getting a lorry in for?The EC209 setup on that 4cx was way too heavy. The ram had cavitation in it when you crowded out as the weight of the tiltrotator pulled it out quicker than the oil could feed it. Then suddenly it would catch up with you - not nice to drive. But it was setup to be swapped between this and a JCB 86c so he went full spec with the gripper and all which really is too much for the backhoe.
The backhoe really wants the next size down in tiltrotator so an EC206/ Steelwrist x07. Yes, on paper the backhoe is more powerful than a 6 ton excavator, but applying that force is quite tricky and a careful op would be more than fine. They are also half the weight in the unit alone. I've tried one and its night and day difference on the way it drives. Plus, its less build height which helps to make the machine fold up better for transport - something which is also a major consideration when thinking of a tiltrotator.
I couldn't disagree more with the front attachments thing. I see the backhoe being under utilised on the front end, yes on bucket work, but also as a tool carrier. I wouldn't run a pan mixer for concrete, I'm thinking of a bucket that can be scooped into the ballast, then just add cement. Knocking up your own kerb mix, running it to where you want it. Or small foundation pours, shuttered retaining walls - I think it could be really handy. I'm not always working where I can have my materials so the ability to mix a decent quantity and run it over to the work area is an advantage for me. Currently I knock it up on the floor, put it in a dumper, then drive to the area, go back, get the digger, drive that to the area, then scoop it out the dumper... Its hard work. Or you end up taking multiple machines to the job to sit on the ballast pile while the other is at the work area.
Anyway, the concrete bucket is just one idea I think I could make use of it. I wouldn't put a crusher on the front as when I'm crushing, I use the front end to heap up the gear as I'm working. And the back end has more flow so can run it better. Ultimately I need the right work to justify any of these ideas, but I think it can work for me if I do.
powder coat can be worse than paint once the surface has been scraped through and the water gets under itThere you go £60mill into a powder coating plant! Finally listened!!

Strikes me alot of stuff is poorly prepped if at all. So much of this stuff where it peels of in sheets doesn't look like there's any primer just paint on to bare metalIt's more or as much the sharp corners than the paint process though init ?
That's a sign it didn't spend long enough in the oven.powder coat can be worse than paint once the surface has been scraped through and the water gets under it..... that will part company in sheets
