Gents,

do any of you have specialist insurance? apart from regular plant?

would be interested to know who with.

We have insurance for stock to a certain value, employers and public liability plus a few tools

I am not sure we get such a great deal or how tight the policy is.. Its a bloody nightmare as some brokers have no interest and some just dont get our game

I've heard good things about JCB insurance and have just renewed with them for a second year. That's for plant and tools, public and employers liability is with another company.

Used to be with JCB Insurance Services when I ran the Contracting business. As I one man band it was cheaper to add plant and public liability to my Farm Insurance with NFU. I was always impressed with the JCB service and I still run commercial vehicle and landlords policy with them.

I just use JCB insurance thy seem to understand what you are talking about unlike some other companies, may not be the cheapest but if the guy on the other end of the phone knows what a rototilt is and understands who that effects the value of the machine that will do for me. Having said all that i haven't needed to make a clam yet and touch wood we can keep it like that insurance i one of those things i would rather no need to find out how good it is.

JCB for public liability and HGV insurance
Aviva for Motor vehicles.

Fk the plant.... if someone Nicks it I shall just sell up.... no point paying almost £800 per year per machine when they won't pay the full cost of replacement when it goes to s**t.

I’m with nfu.currently paying about £230 for my volvo ecr25 and generally bring it home at night unless I’m 100% happy with security.£5million public liability around £200 aswell and my new hilux negotiated on Friday £420.work in about 10 mile radius generally.best thing with nfu is discounts if no claims and I can call local office and they know who I am and none of em are Indian or overseas.generally use jcb insurance for hire in plant which is expensive but cheaper than hired in plant insurance if not using it often.no doubt someone will tell me I’m being robbed now

Loyalty means bugger all to insurance company's
Had a re-newall quote for my motor £228 fully comp the works,so just out of interest,had a shop around.Went on that companies site,tapped away at the keys,so ended up exactly the same terms and conditions and cover
£165
The phone was promtly picked up and a rant hurled down the line
the reason for such a difference in price was because I went in as a new customer
Wouldn't mind so much,but have been with the same insurer since I passed my test some while ago(I won't reveal how long,but it starts with a 4 and ends in 0)
So how much has loyalty cost me

For me JCB were best for all risk plant with hired in kit although about £600
Direct line was best for public liability but again about 600
Royal sun alliance for van but that's nearly 700
Never any claims, points or convictions but always goes up

mine was a very different game ..... but try finding insurers for engineering and hot works ....

NFU were brilliant .... totally tailored policy, which encompassed my entire operation, including buildings, contents, stock, plant, vehicles, product liability, public liability, consequential losses, the absolute works ....
and they saved me a bloody fortune over the previous broker's efforts ... local office ... ppl who''d come and talk to you .... TBH I can't recommend them enough ... add / remove kit as you liked .
was with them for years ... oh and sod all cost to pay monthly .....
when I was wrapping up and disposing of gear, etc., the monthlies just went down each month, as i told 'em what didn't need covering any more

still with them for my vehicles and have failed to better them
